So disappointed!
Just heard today the my surgery scheduled for Monday is being postponed as my bloodwork reveals a strange platlet problem! I mentioned to the surgeon a couple of months ago that I bled a lot when I have my daughters so they ran this extra test for blood clotting times and sure enough there is something strange with my blood. The ran some extra tests today but couldn't work out the cause so they have postponed me until they can. I have to wait now to see the hematolgist and her first appointment is not until August! UURRRGGHHH, I feel so let down!! I know logically that its better to be safe then sorry but I just feel so damm dissapointed. And of course my first instinctual reaction was "oh well we can go out for a nice dinner now as there is no point doing this liquid diet now." That really illustrates to me how much I need this. And now I wondering if I should keep trying to lose weight while I wait - my BMI is 35.99 and the cut off for this surgery here is 35. What if I lose a bit more and then they tell me sorry we can't do it now? What to do?? I;ve already taken the two weeks off work too. I feel so frustrated!
I feel for you! I got the wonky blood work results with abnormal clotting times a week before my surg. sched., rush back in for follow up blood mixing study, day before surg results back, its abnormal.
I love my PCP - she called me to let me know, then called the surg. to review the results with him, then called me back to let me know that tho they were abnormal, he felt comfortable with the times they disclosed - so we went ahead.
Could you try a different hematologist - maybe another could get you in sooner?
As to staying on diet - NO! I would not try to loose weight - you don't want knocked out by that! Try to stay at weight so that you aren't gaining or loosing. And you can go out for a nice dinner - just make it a nice healthy one!
Good luck!

I am so sorry to hear things have to be postponed. But thank God you mentioned this to your Dr to check. I hate to think what could happen if they had not caught it.
Absolutely keep trying to lose weight while you get it all worked out, It will put you that much more ahead of the game. You already were approved by the insurance company so what do you have to lose. Keep posting and we will keep encouraging you and celebrating your victories.
