Even at three months out, I still can't eat enough to get all my protein through food.  I still do a protein shake for breakfast and I do one when I come back from the gym in the afternoon.  I found some really good ones at GNC, the Oh Yeah brand and they are so delicious.  I never thought that I would say that about a protein shake but they are so good.  I love the vanilla and the strawberry milkshake, it taste like milk with the strawberry nesquik i use to use as a kid.  Plus they have 32g of protein in them so that way I get 64g of protein from the shakes and then even more from the rest of the little bit of food that I can eat.  I am usually at 80-90g of protein by the end of the day.  There is no way that I could get close to that without them!

I'm another weird person! I LOVE my protein shakes! I have 2 a day even though I can eat my protein. My nut suggested using 1/2 scoops with 8 oz of 1% milk to up my calories and allow for a couple of snacks of veggies. If I eat all my protein, I dont have much room for the veggies. My calorie goal in maintenance is 1200 and I struggle to get there every day. So the shakes help!

I buy Dymatize ISO-100 Gourmet Vanilla protein powder. It's not cheap. I usually spend about $63 per month on my protein powder. I dont mind this expense because I LIKE it. I honestly have not found another powder I really care for. Alot of it is the smell. Cannot stand a nasty smelling protein shake!

I fix a frozen frappe type drink. I use 8 oz 1% milk, 1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder, a teaspoon or so of natural cocoa powder, 1 tbsp of instant coffee along with 4-5 large ice cubes. Blend this all up in my Magic Bullet and voila!! YUMMY!!

Following surgery, I drank 3 a day religiously.  Now, I usually drink one a day; a double scoop of unflavored protein in 8oz. of 1% chocolate milk.  I sip on it slowly, and pretend it's a fast food shake.

I am at my goal now and I still drink them. The chocolate ones I get at Costco or at GNC taste good if I mix them really well and add ice. The problem is that if you don't get enough protein your hair might fall out (among other things). I am 8 months out and my hair started to fall out in January. It is awful! I added more protein and more vitamins and it is growing back in, but right now it looks terrible. Milk will add carbs as well as protein so I try to mix with water and save the carbs for other things.

I'm on day 13 and doing 3 a day right now... 2 30g ones (30g is all your body can process at one time) and 1 20g one.  I'm okay with Unjury Chocolate Splendor, hate the Vanilla... the Strawberry Sorbet is alright, but I'd imagine it would be better if mixed with milk and berries.

I just ordered some samples from Vitalady that arrived today though, so hopefully I'll find something I can switch over to for a bit.

Got sleeved in Feb 2011 but I was already on Medifast shakes since back around Thanksgiving 2010. The trick is to find a shake you like to drink. I also add 2% milk to mine if they taste badly. Another trick is to mix 1 scoop of nasty shake mix with one scoop of good tasting shake mix to help me finish off the nasty stuff I bought too much of.... Craig

PS: Just my opinion but...
Optisource - Dulce De Leche Caramel = Nasty!
EAS - Vanilla = Nastier!
Isopure - Mint Chocolate Chip = NASTIEST!

I hate shakes.  But I know I need the extra protein so I make sugar free instant pudding and add three heaping scoops of vanilla protein powder to the milk wire wisk it well and then add the pudding mix to it.  It makes 4 dishes of pudding.  So I only have to eat 1/2 cup of pudding at a time to get approx 20 grams of protein.  How much protein you get depends on the protein powder you use.  And you get 4 grams of protein each dish from the milk.  I keep these in the fridge.  I use the vanilla powder in all the pudding flavors even chocolate.  They taste best and have the best consistency if you put them in the fridge for at least one hr.

I drank my shakes during the first few weeks then it just started tasting gross so I was shopping around for something tasty and found it so now I try to get in at least one shake a day, but most of my protein comes from food.
