I'm 4'9" and weighed 212lbs (at 49yrs old) when I started my journey.

I pretty much thought the same way knowing before it was easy to take off 20lbs but can put it on quickly after you stop dieting and exercising. The only thing that keeps me focus is that my new tummy is my tool that I cannot go back to my old eating habits. Exercising is hard with excessive weight as it is so taking those baby steps not only helps our weight but builds our endurance.

Have to agree with some that some of the weight could be mainly water weight which is always the first to come off....much easier at least.

Good luck.

I've lost weight on diets before but it always came back. Being tired of yo-yo dieting I did my research and had the VSG. Best decision I ever made. I've lost 100% of my excess weight and have kept it off without much effort for almost a year.

My weight is stable at 170 pounds, I'm never hungry, I don't crave foods, I'm satisfied with a small portions, I control what I eat and none of this would have been possible without the VSG.

Post-op your only regret will be not to have had the surgery sooner.

I'm way taller than you (5.3  LOL).  In my adult life (I'm in my mid 30's now), I've bounced between 189 (achieved through participating in a grueling weightloss competition at work) and 264 (right before my pre-op liquid diet).  I've tried everything, from liquid diets to Weigh****chers to a binge eating program.  I followed the basic cycle of diet, experience some sort of stress at work, break the diet and eat out, eat out more, gain weight, start a new diet, etc...  I really had some stupid idea that I had to lose weight the "old fashioned way", even though it never worked for me in the past :(

The binge eating program was fantastic!  It helped me to learn why I would eat so much at night, and how to get it under control.  The program had an Intuitive Eating approach, which was great!  However, this program does not guarantee weight loss, and unfortunately, in my case, led to a 30+ pound weight gain!  Apparently, when I eat what my body (not my mind) wants, when I'm hungry, I get too many calories :(  Even when I ate a wonderful balanced diet full of nutritious foods, I was hungry every couple of hours.

After walking away from the binge eating program much heavier than when I began it, I decided to seriously look into WLS, since it had worked so well for others.

I think that through my 25 years of yo-yo dieting, I completely messed up my body, metabolism, and hunger.  The sleeve is a great tool for me, to help me eat less and feel full sooner.  Combined with a healthy, high protein diet, and excercise, I know I will be able to get down to a healthy size and stay there :)
