this is day 5 after surgery.  i just got to the place where i can eat a whole popsicle w/o it being painful, but today i got sick from them!!  i can't seem to stomach anything well.  i seem to have lost my love of sweets, so shakes are out.  isopure tastes horrible to me.  since i can't gulp, i can't just get soemthing over with.  its seems terrible to have to sip something ALL DAY that you hate.  i don't want to slow down my meatbolism b/c i don't have any protein.  i find myself wanting to sleep all day, so i don't have to force down protein.  my followup isn't until the 16th and i am looking forward to pureed beans!!  can't believe i am saying that...can anyone offer advice?

Oh, boy. Well - I can only tell you what I did. I was able to get down 1.5 shakes/day (usually). I don't LIKE them but they are tolerable (Atkins Chocolate Royale). Broth was my best friend. I am NOT a sweets person so I definitely preferred broth. Also iced tea saved me. BE SURE to get your fluids NO MATTER WHAT, and do the best you can with protein.

did you have protein in the tea or was that just used for liquid purposes...and thanks for the advice...i don't want to stress too much b/c that won't be good for me.

HECK NO!  Tea just for fluids!  Definitely don't stress - just do the best you can with protein, and get your fluids!!!

if you can handle milk make some very runny cream of wheat.  I had surgery the day after you and it has helped me.  Just make a 1/4 cup of milk with 2 tbl spoon of cream of wheat.  trust me you will love it.

Have you tried protein hot chocolate? i think bariatric pantry has a variety of protein hot cocoa's as well as a cold chai tea drink that i thought worked well for post op. I got so tired of cold drinks that it was my heaven

and have you tried chicken broth with unflavored protein added? lots of people tend to that. sweets can be overwhelming directly after surgery so these options may be doable.

oh, i also froze my isopure (in 10oz servings) much more tolerable

Is greek yogurt allowed on the liquid only diet? I just can't remember. If so, try some of that. You can make it sweet with SF syrups or savory if you like it that way.
ONLY IF IT'S ON YOUR PLAN!

congrats on your surgery, sorry you're having a tough time of it,   getting sick,  that should pass soon. the first couple of weeks were the hardest,  but every day it got better.  can you have greek yogurt,  lots of protein,  i couldn't stomach isopure so got other shakes   (don't tell my doctor)  maybe the yogurt will godown better?  you can add flavor to plain,  or i could,  in a blender .  It takes a while to get it all in but smoothies and shakes count as your fluids too,  drink lots of water    i drank a lot of hot tea,  my tummy hated anything cold,   you'll be much better soon i'm sure   be good to yourself  walk, sip, rest and repeat  :o) jeani

on my pre-trial 3 week liquid diet (havent had surgery yet) I could have yogert but it had to be thinned down with skim milk so it was pourable. I had to also blend as well as strain. I found the different flavors of low fat/sugaryogert tolerable and left alot for variety in flavors. I used unflavored protein powder in my broth as well.
