Lets fight about weight versus volume versus eyeballing, shall we? :}

I am still trying to grasp the 'Volume" method. The only thing I can think to do is use the little medicine cups that I got at the hospital and see how much I can get in there for one ounce!

BL - you are awesome and not one should be picking you! Your insight is immeasurable for us newbies!

I think the last time I lost a lot of weight, I eyeballed my food too and then I guess my eyeballs grew or I started being dishonest with myself and all that weight came right back to me plus some! It is me I do not trust!! LOL

Peace out

Obviously I was the last straw on that person's camel.  I figure though, since nothing is new under the sun, so if one person had something to say, probably more than one person thinks the same thing!

Thanks girlie!   (*the one ounce cups will work!)

I agree with Jason.  I'm and eyeballer too but I have no issues with those that weigh and measure.  Can't see why anyone would have an issue.  In fact I suggest to others to weigh rather than eyeball because I wish I had gotten into the practice of it myself. To each their own.  Love you bring in the arguement to the table though, we need something to spice up the forum it has been a bit on the dull side lately!

It seems like the moon is in a weird place and a fight was a brewing.  Might as well get it on!

Lets get ready to rumble!

I'm so glad the OP brought this up! I'm pre-op and wondered if we are supposed to go by weight or volume when eating my prescribed 2 oz. portion. I'm a "rule follower" by nature and want to do it right! I thought it might have been a stupid question, so I never asked, but now I NEED to know...is it by weight or volume?

Well, course your stomach does not understand weight, so your tum is a volume thing.  To me - especially first off I just started with 1 ounce of food, course that was me and my scale, so *meh* but those little ounce cups (from the hospital) will work too if you can get your hands on them, if you are volume oriented!

Well, I have done a little of both and.....when I don't weigh or measure and just eyeball, I get sick. So now I weigh and measure to prevent that little problem. Nobody should put anybody down for what works best.

Hey Brandilyn,

I agree with you in saying what ever method we use to measure... stick with it.

What bothers me at this moment is someone telling you their way is
the way...  like it is the ONLY way.  Well its not.  Many people lost weight
here without this exact way.  Its funny when the few here talk about
their only way is the right way. Or they force their success on others.

Support is not a force...  Support is patience, love & tolerance who suggests
and perhaps shares a little bit about their experience strength and hope with
their journey.  Support is also taking the time to write supportive posts and not
be selective or clickish. We take what we want and leave the rest behind from people
who share is the beauty of it all.  I take a lot and I also leave a lot.  its nice to know
I dont have to listen to everyone, but I try to.

The fact is we train our sleeves with what we want them to do.
If measuring your food works for you....   Greeeat!!!  If your in habit
with measuring your food... I think it is fantastic!!!! Also It just may be
better in the long run.

I think your doing fabulous.

but for those who eyeball... and if it works for them ...great..
for those who measure volume and it works for them....great....

I do believe just getting right out of surgery for me measuring volume was best for me for the first month especially up until like 2 1/2 months or 3.  However if you would have told me to weigh food... i  would have done that too and just find the right amount.  I miss having so much restriction back then. In other words..its all good. This has all changed for me.
Now I do all 3 of them depending where I am at.  eyeball ( danger zone for me because it gets bigger and bigger but have no choice sometimes to eyeball), volume or weigh.
The point is not to return to the habits I had once before and that was piling the plate.
Because we can train our sleeves to do so...   eeeek!

" Its progress not perfection!"

I dont know who your talking about nor do i want to know.  these are just my feelings about it.

Again Keep on truckin...your doing AWESOME!
