Lets fight about weight versus volume versus eyeballing, shall we? :}
Your Brilliant!! YES I read that a few days ago and laughed my buns off! But the putrified, pickeled soybeany thing could be my mental grossout the next time the kids bring home KFC as I slug down my Isopure. KFC....stinky slimey soybeany thing....aaach
. It just might work. (off to print a picture of it......)
Thanks BL. Brilliant!!

Damn.....
I check out for a few hours and you stir up some **** !!!!
Yah.... I'm a "Baller" by choice......
I'm an "Eyeballer" based on Volume.......
Only time I ever consider weight is Meat......and that is from what the package says the pre=cooked piece of meat/seafood weighs.
Why hone the fine art of Eyeballing..... Cause I travel.......and early out I knew I needed to get my "Method" down. I could be on the road for a week or more at a time and eat 37 times at 37 different places in several countries.
Eyeballing and "Combat Eating" keeps me at comfort any where I go.....never a freak out or "Not Knowing" I actually tend to error on the "Under eating" side. Not only do I eyeball.... I practice under eating.
Eating slow is the key.... Eat slow and slower towards the end.....
If were on the run and I need to eat fast..... I only eat about 1oz. and eat more when I can.
What ever method you use...... fine......if you get the proper weight loss or maintenance......It's working !!!!!

I'm rarely at home, so I didn't want to have to lug around a scale, even a small one. So I have little 1/2 cup sized bowls that I use, and measure by volume. I MUST measure by any method possible because otherwise I will overeat, no doubt.
I absolutely will underestimate portions. I do think that scale measurements are much more accurate than volume measurements, but often close enough that it won't make a huge difference for most foods. If you have a scale handy, go for it.
If not, use little bowls which are light and easy to carry around. If you can't do that try to figure out how to eyeball as close as you can and then eat slowly. Or listen to your body if you are good at that. I think it goes without saying that there are many ways to go about losing weight and figuring out portions and such.
This isn't all that different than me expressing my beliefs about carbs and food addiction. I would never say that my way is the RIGHT way. I would just share with people how carb abstinence helps me, and maybe others can find something similar helpful to them.
I think it's all about how you share your opinion, because we all have them. Sounds like this person shared their opinion as if it was fact and rudely, and I'm sorry to hear that you were treated like that.

You know I got your back
And I ain't gonna give you flack
I love my pretty orange scale
And I know it won't make me fail
I can cheat the measuring cup
But the scale won't let me screw up
It gives me the correct weight
with no chance to inflate
