Be honest, the sleeve doesn't create surgically induced bullemia - right?

I was a yr out in Feb, I have only threw up 3 times.  The first time was from eatting eggs. I can now eat them w/ no issues. the second time it was when I had hot buffalo wings. I can only eat them cold now. So once in awhile I will have 2. and the 3rd time was when I had some mango. So I dont eat mango no more.

I've been sleeved for 11 weeks and have thrown up twice but it was no one's fault but my own. I ate too much and actually made myself throw up to stop being miserable. I'm learning my lesson the hard way. If you listen to your sleeve, you'll absolutely love it! It knows best.

early on i would hurl because it took me a while to learn what it felt like to be "full"....  and it was a big learning curve for me...  i also tended to eat too fast, a real hard habit to break....

it got better when i got smarter about it....

(i got the stomach flu in march - it HURT to barf, not enough tummy to turn inside out... uff da...)

I have had a couple of isolated incidences where I puked the water I drank, but I was to blame for that, cause I had just eaten and there was no room for the water. They tell you not to drink right away after eating. That is definitely one of the reasons why. There is no room in there for food and for water at the same time, so the water had to go. That is all that came up.

I puked once in the last month.  When they made me drink that vile water for the leak test.  Haven't even really got nausea since.

Only negative experiences I've had (that involved vomiting) were my own fault. I tried to eat solid foods too soon after surgery and I ate too much of it. That was way back during my 1st five weeks post-op. Since then it's been a dream come true! The only negative I've had (if you can call it that) is my own lack of patience when the scale stalls or yo-yos for a few days. If your an ex-bandster then you know the truth about the band now that it's over in your case. Maybe the others never admitted their band issues because they hated to admit they made a poor choice for WLS? It did take a few years for all the truth about the crap-band to come out publicly.

Glad to hear your on the mend and ready to try the VSG. I personally think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread! .....Craig

Wow...my husband would totally relate to your story. In fact, I am going to have him come read your post! He had the band several years ago and had complications from the git go. He had it removed after a few months - he had the option to revise to a sleeve but was too freaked out after his experience with the band. His mother had the band before he did - lost alot of weight - pukes several times a day even now 6 years out but is in total denial that it has anything to do with the band. Fast forward several years - my husband sees how well I'm doing with the sleeve and has changed his mind about it - his surgery is tomorrow! When we told his mother that he was going in for a sleeve she asked him why he thought this would work when HE failed the band - the band did not fail him - HE failed. I just wanted to scream "HE DID NOT FAIL THE BAND - THE BAND FAILED HIM!!!!!!!" I find it amusing but sad how bandsters are so defensive about their bands and never believe anyone that "fails".  Especially NaBlowMe - she is the biggest frickin' idiot of all!!!

So, to answer your question - I have not puked one time in the year that I have had my sleeve. Like another poster said - I would have welcomed it on a few occassions when I ate too much - but still did not/could not. In the time that I have been on OH.com I have not seen anyone post about being a vsg prolific puker. I hope that puts your mind at ease.

Leila,

I have thrown up maybe 6 or 7 times in the last 3 years with the sleeve. Everytime it was because I ate rice, sushi and ate way too much til I was uncomfortable and then barfed. All me!!! Definitely not a normal occurence.
