I'm pre-op, but here's my two cents.

Within the last year, I started suffering from breast pain.  After a mammogram and other tests, the doctors could find nothing wrong.  The breast specialist instructed me to take vitamin E and Evening Primrose Oil daily to relieve the pain.  It doesn't completely relieve the pain, but definitely reduces it.  The nice side affect I've noticed is thick hair with really fast growth.  My stylist even commented on how fast it grows now.  So I did some digging and found some articles that claim the primrose oil helps with this!

Not sure if it's right for everyone (apparently pregnant women should avoid it due to uterine contractions) but I'm a believer and will continue to take it through my Sleeve surgery and recovery (probably for a long time, actually).

Anyone else had luck with primrose oil and hair growth/thickness??

My hair loss hasn't started. Yet. I'm waiting, tho. Mine is thin and fine. If I lose very much I feel like I;ll be bald.

I'm planning a preemptive short funky haircut here soon, and maybe some strands of color too.. I know I'll be shedding like a nervous cat at the vet, I always do when I lose fast. Eh, it does grow back eventually. Not a huge deal, but it is upsetting while you're in the middle of it! I have thin hair and have been on Rogaine for female pattern baldness for year or so.. and take 5000mcg of Biotin (for my nails- it works!, hair, didn't see a diff.) I may look at Evening Primrose Oil too, some GLA's can't hurt. Be aware with the Biotin- best to start with 1000mcg a day and slowly increase every couple weeks till you're at 5000mcg as it can cause a little acne in some. It does do wonders if your nails are thin!

I started to lose hair 3 months and a few days out or so.  It comes out with more strands in my brush.  I dont have thick hair like you. I just hope the strands I am losing start their growth back.
I have long hair so I am sure I am going to have to do something with the legnth.  A new hot hair style maybe just what I need ,,,yep a new makeover!!....

90% I am not worried  the other 10% worry comes when I actually brush my hair and then i forget about it.

yaaaaaay...  your right...  we will get through this together....!!!

Does anyone have PCOS and suffer from alopecia????  I already loose my hair and am actually dealing with a bout of hair loss as we speak.  I am getting sleaved on June 16th and am SOOOO worried about the hair loss.  When you have alopecia, hair does not grow back.  My questions is will the hair that falls out from surgery grow back since it isn't technically realated to my alopecia????

Dreading this side effect.

Is it terrible that this is one of the side effects I am most fearful of?!? I have very thin and fine hair a is, I really can't afford to lose more. I guess I will be buying some Nioxin, Biotin and Prim Rose Oil . LOL

Seriously though. Totally panicking.

I think many of us will agree that though the hairloss is no fun, we would trade that for the success with our VSG's...hairloss is temporary while our life change is not..

It is easier knowing that there are others who have been through it..we are here for each other which makes all the difference..

My sexy Italian hair has thinned a bit - more than a bit, I guess - but it's less to carry as I exercise or play golf and gives an extra loss of 0.000001 oz. on the scale when I weigh-in.  No problem.

Good grief! I didn't read all responses, but here's my input: I started losing at about 4 months. Losing a LOT. Clumps in the shower, more in the brush - hair everywhere! Had lots to start with so I never really worried about it. I THINK it's slowing down - haven't had a clump in the shower in several days. Thought this once before and I was wrong but it's been happening for almost exactly 3 months so I'm hopeful!!
