This is all new to me. I have not had a weight problem until the past couple of years (and because of that, insurance will not pay for my weight loss surgery). Since I began to put on weight, and by put on weight, I mean topping 200 pounds and still growing, I have been diagnosed with the following: pre-diabetes (on meds), Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (meds), High blood pressure (meds), urinary incontinence (meds, which are also supposed to help with the unbelievable sweating I have), hypothyroidism (meds), and am about to be tested for sleep apnea. I have had severe back problems since 1998, which I'm sure my weight is not helping. I'm frustrated that because I haven't been "morbidly obese" for 3 or more years, my insurance will not pay for weight loss surgery, despite my many health problems I have. I did not know what BeLite was exactly, but emailed them, thinking they could assist me in locating a local surgeon who would do the surgery for less than $14,000, which is what I've been quoted. Nikki called me today and provided me with information re: surgery in Mexico, which I had not previously considered.
I went to a seminar this past weekend and had it in my mind that I would be getting gastric bypass. I had read a little about the sleeve, but didn't wanna go that route. During the seminar, it hit me that this is the surgery for me. Now, finding a surgeon and getting the money to pay for it is my goal. My husband does NOT want me to go to Mexico. He is very distrustful of everything. I understand his concerns, but have read really good things about all of the "main" doctors who perform the weight loss surgeries in Mexico.
Any information y'all could give me about all of this would be greatly appreciated. I'm seriously considering using Dr. Jose Rodriguez in Tijuana, but I wanna make sure that he is a great surgeon and that the care I'll be receiving is going to be what is best for me. Please tell me anything you know about all of the above. Thanks!
