Hey OH family-

I wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who posted in support in regard to my Rotti Caesar. I got some information that he went to a family with land who has another Rotti and they just lost their other dog to illness..they are happy to have him.

That being said I wanted to let you all know what I have decided...After tears and sleepless nights I decided to let this go. This situation has held me hostage for 2 and a half years and that is long enough. It is in God's hands now and all I can do is hope that he is in a better home than my ex's and getting the love and attention that I would give him.
(thank you Fatguyinalittlecoat for stating this gently and with sensitivity).

It is my hope that one day Caesar and I will be together again, at the Rainbow Bridge, and we can run and play together for eternity. This gives me comfort.

Someone sent this in to Post Secret and it tugs at my heart, as I write this I am tearing...it goes like this, " I've heard once you die every dog you once knew or ever loved runs toward you to say hi. That makes me incredibly happy". This gives me solace.

Funny, I am also a certified petloss/pet bereavement counselor at my practice and I am the one that needs consoling.

Thank you OH family for standing behind me and mourning with me, you all are my diary, my friends, my priest, and the best support ever.

Love Always,
Sassy.

Thanks for letting us know.  Thank goodness, your fur baby has a good home.

I would like to think that every person who counsels people over the loss of their pet has a heart like yours.  Your education may make you certified, but your heart makes you qualified.

I am gonna go home an give my ol' Boo-dog a hug in your name!

Nice to hear you are coming to terms with this.  Take solace in knowing he is w/ a family that will treat him well....and he is filling a "hole" in their lives.  May not be the "ending" you had hoped for......but a "happy" one nonetheless.

So happy you know he's OK.   Even better that you can see the light at the end of this dark and sad time for you.  It takes a great deal of courage to let God take care of things, and I admire your strength.
I am a pastoral care minister, and I find that my personal experiences with loss and grief have allowed healing and love to flow through me to my people, not from me, but more like a tool being used by the Master to heal the people I minister to.
I expect you will be a more compassionate and gifted healer in your work for your experience.  Don't forget to thank Ceasar for the goodness that has come from this when you see him again.
I too am going to hug my dog for you.  I know he won't mind a bit.
Peace dear.

My heart aches for you, but I'm happy for your decision.  It sounds like Caesar is in a great home--and that's what's important.  I'm looking forward to the day I get to see all my pets again too.

And there's no shame to be found in having love in your heart.  Ever.

Current weight: 170 lbs.

Once I reach goal, this cow will be killed & eaten... 2 ounces at a time.

Total includes 56 lbs. lost on 2-month low carb pre-op diet.  Start date 9/13/10.

Sassy, what an unselfish thing for you to do.  You found out he is with good people and is probably happy and decided to think of him first.  Not to mention how you didn't want to break the hearts of the new owners.

I have such a lump in my throat.  Such an act of graciousness and kindness will one day be rewarded.

Big hugs to you for the very mature and sensible decision, at least he is in a good place. It's a hard thing to do but you do have to move on with your life and at least knowing he's with good people will allow you to do that. Time to move on and enjoy that new skinny life of yours!
