Did you transfer the name on the ownership papers when you gave him to your ex after the breakup?  I would think that if you didn't, that he would legally be yours and you could take some kind of legal action to get him back.

I hope it all works out well.

You have my prayers for you and your dog. I agree that you should look for him, but if it were me, I would also prepare myself to let go and let God take care of it.
I love my dog nearly as much as my son or husband, God knows he listens better! It would hurt so much to be in your place. I can't imagine, and of course that's the point of it. Your unevolved, damaged,wreck of an ex is continuing to force his miserable, selfish and sad existence on you by manipulating poor Ceasar. That's a lot of power to leave in undeserving hands.
I hope you find Ceasar and can be reunited or at least reassured. Whatever happens, please take care of yourself.

So sorry, Sweetie, about this awful situation.  We have 3 dogs and a cat, and I can't imagine life without them!   What a self-centered, manipulative jackass...I am relieved you are not married to him...think you deserve way better than that!  If there really is no way to find the person who has C now, maybe FGLC is right (and he said it with such beautiful sensitivity) about needing to give it up...but maybe not until you've had a chance to really "digest" all that has happened and what realistically can or cannot be accomplished.  I wish there was an instant cure for these "pains in the heart" but there's not, except to share what you're feeling, and allow your heart to receive the love and kindness we are all sending.  Take care, Sweetie...Viv

How cruel!  I'm an animal lover too, and I'd be as devastated as you.  Imagine being so heartless as to just give away a member of your family!

Forget this idiot and do your best to track down the dog.  I'm sure the new owners would see reason in the form of cash.

Then the moron won't have a way to hurt you anymore.

Oh, I'm so sorry for your pain! What about contacting vets in the area, and see if any of them know Ceasar? Is there patient confidentiality for dogs?

One thing this demonstrates for sure is that you are so much better off without this jerk. Don't look back!

On a lighter note, Waffle would make a great dog name.

I am so sorry! That guy is such an asshole! My 3 dogs are my children, so I understand how you feel. You should put up posters in the Vet clinics around the area where this douche bag was living... The new owners might want to take him in for a check up since they just got him, and maybe they will see the posters. Good luck!
