What % of your EW did you end up losing?
100%!! I never dreamed I would make my surgeon's goal of 134. I thought that was too low for me so my nut & I set my personal goal at 150. I hit that goal and decided to lose another 10 lbs to see how I felt. Lost that then decided for another 5 lbs. I hit my revised goal of 135 in 9 months. My official 1 year weigh in at the surgeons office recorded me at 134.6. I've been as low as 131. To me I look and feel healthy at this weight. I fluctuate between 131-136 on any given day (lovely water weight). I am perfectly happy right where I'm at!! Good luck to you!!!

My surgeon's office says they expect patients to lose a minimum 60% of EWL within the first 6 months. I'm just shy of 40% and I will be 3 months next week (12 weeks tomorrow). I had a lot to lose -- 130lbs from my surgery weight, so I won't make goal in 6 months. I'm shooting for 80% EWL at 6 months which should make 100% EWL attainable within the first year.
Here's my progress of EWL against the BMI chart
3 months 44%
6 months 63%
9 months 77%
12 months 85%
As of today I'm 13 1/2 months since surgery and at 91% EWL - 2lbs away my goal of 170lbs (92%EWL) - the BMI scale does not take into account body composition.
I've worked out a lot and am very muscular and have 22% body fat, my BMI is 26.9 and for me, this is where I feel comfortable. I may lose some more, but my focus now is on changing my composition by losing some more fat and gaining more muscle.
EWL of 100% is only 13lbs away - so maybe I'll get there one day - but it's not the 'be all and end all' for me.
Good Luck everyone.

That is outstanding! Look at all of posters that exceeding the average of 65-85% EWL!!!
I agree that BMI charts do not take into account the body composition. Everyone is just so different it's impossible to do that. Since that's the case with BMI, I'm using it as an in general type of thing and I am setting up my goal around it anyway. Of course, as I come up on my goal...... we'll see how my body feels and what IT wants to do once I get there. Who knows... maybe once I reach my "normal" BMI weight (160lbs) I might try to lose an addition 20lbs but I seriously doubt I'll take it that far..... but like I said, I won't know until I get there...... and I WILL get there.
You've done absolutely amazingly and I am soooo proud of you!! Keep it up, you've worked sooo hard!

Ok, this is how I would figure it out..
Starting weight is 277 so 277-150 (that will get you into the normal range) means you had an excess weight of 127 lbs.
If you're at a current weight of 168 then you would subtract that number from 277 and you've lost a total so far of 109lbs. (EXCELLENT JOB BTW!! You go with your bad self!!) You're only 18 lbs from your overall 100% of EWL goal!! Wooooot Wooooot!! Applause anyone? HECK YEAH!!!
But to figure out what % of your goal you're currently sitting at......
You have lost 109 of the 127lbs you'd need to be at the top of your normal BMI range... so that = 109/127. Divide 109 by 127 and you're at 85% of your total goal!! You're at the top of the "normal weight loss %" Remember my dr said the average person loses 65-85% of their EW... well you are there and them some!! Congrats!!
Amazing, simply AMAZING!!!
