Newbie! Excited to start my new life!

Isn't it funny how your body dysmorphia works? I too would feel ok when I looked in a mirror. But, when is 240 pounds acceptable as long as you look like you "only" weight 200? LOL! It's the pictures that will give you a more accurate portrayal of how you look, and if you are like me you avoid them at all costs, the better to help perpetrate the myth of how you think you look. I even have people tell me "you don't LOOK like you weigh that much!" Ugh. Wait until they see otherwise, LOL. I got to the point in the last year where I could no longer pretend, because it was taking a physical toll on me.

I COMPLETELY agree with everything you just said. I've been with my boyfriend for 3 years now and I had always lied to him about my weight. I just recently told him what I really weigh, and he goes "WHAT!!? But you don't look like you weigh anywhere near that!" Which is the phrase that got me here to begin with. And I always avoided pictures as well-- unless they were taking by ME and at an angle that took off 20 pounds from my body.. lol

He didn't say anything. The night before my surgery, he came to me crying and told me if I didn't want to go through with it, it's ok - he loves me no matter what. He was scared for me. It was so sweet, but didn't sway me in the LEAST, LOL!
Good luck and Congrats for making the best decision of your life. This is truly the best thing I have done for myself and I am only a little over 3 weeks out. I am so happy with my success so far as I know you will be too. I know how you feel and am really proud of you doing this now and not waiting til you are older. I wish they would have had this available when I was your age. Good things are coming your way.......God Bless, Leslie
You're so gorgeous now! I can't wait to see what you look like after surgery! This is a life changing experience and it's a wonderful thing to be doing so young! I wish I had done it when I was 21 years old as well. I'll be 27 this year and I feel like the past 6 years would have been completely different had I been more confident in myself! I'm so proud of you for making this decision at such a young age!! I look forward to your success. Please keep me posted and feel free to add me if you'd like!
