Surgery Cards for Restaurants

I do not have one of those cards, but i have heard about them. I went to a Scentsy rally with some of the girls in my downline, it was an all day event. Anyway, we ended up going to a resteraunt for breakfast and before i could order, the ladies with me told the waitress i had just had surgery and could i order off the kids menu and the waitress said yes, I was glad for that as all i was able to eat was probably one egg. At dinner, they did the same, this place said i could order off the kids menu but they would charge 3.00 more. Again i was glad, the dinner ended up costing me as much as a regular dinner, but there was chicken on the kids menu that i wouldn't have been able to get from the regular menu. (i am very picky and didn't care for the food on reg. menu)
i know this didn't answere your question, sorry

I usually order an appetizer or if I order an entire meal the bf or one of my teenage scavenger ummm children eat it.  If it survives overnight in the fridge its lunch the next day:)

Ditto about what you said. I have some pretty strong feelings about the card but then again I am old and opinionated.
I chose to have bariatric surgery and I am not sure any eating establishment owes me any special accomodations. I am and adult and I can ask about ordering off the kids menu though generally there is not anything I like there.
For the most part I order an entree and take home what I don't finish or I order and appetizer and have never been questioned about this.
For the most part I choose not to go to buffets anymore because it is not worth the money but IF I did I would not except them to lower their price because I eat less than most, no more than I would have offered to pay more pre-op because I for sure at more than most.
Whatever you do is it truthful, necessary and kind?

Most nice restaurants that I've been to never question me if I order off the kids menu. That waitress / waiter is working for tips and it's very doubtful that he/she won't let you. I'm usually a very good tipper and if they don't let me (which has never been the case) there tip won't be as big because I would have to pay for food that I'm not going to eat.

I usually just order a normal meal and take leftovers home and eat them for a week. LOL. Or dh and I share. Last night is the first time I actually said something. We ended up at a mongolian grill type place (not our choice) and it was one of those pile high and they cook it joints....I knew I would NEVER eat it all...I asked if I could order a kids and they looked at me funny then I explained why and she had no problem. =) I was so relieved. =)

My surgeon gave me one, but I've never used it.  I love taking home leftovers.

I served at the Cheesecake Factory for 3 years, and I am sitting here with a friend that served at the Olive Garden for 7 years, and we both agree that as servers~ we never cared what people ordered. I feel like it's not worth the hassle of the card and all that... just order what you want. And one thing I agree with on that dudes extenisive list is that the kids menu is less healthy anyway. If your server gives you a hard time... just give a crappy tip. LOL
Peace and Love.

I'm  diabetic.  For years I have gone to resturants and ordered exactly what I wanted.  Providing of course it was food that was on their menu.  If I wanted one egg and 1 piece of meat thats what I ordered.  Its not that I am looking for a reduction in price I simply don't want a lot of food put in front of me that I can't eat.   They always figure out what they want to charge me and I pay for it.  No discussion.

I have a card,  and for the last 3 months I have never needed it.  Most of the time I share a meal with my husband, just as I did before surgery.  Restaurants serve way too much food for one.  I have also ordered off the kids menu with no hassles.  And, I have ordered soup or an appetizer if I am not with hubby.   I have been to one buffet, it was a breakfast buffet.  It was to celebrate a birthday.  The waitress took orders for eggs and we helped ourselves to the buffet.  I told her I would only be eating a scrambled egg, nothing off the buffet just one egg.  She took my order and did not charge me for anything.  I was with a group of 10.  She was surprised that I did not want a drink.  I only order water, no ice.  That is in case I choke or need a quick little sip.  I have had great experiences with my eating out.  And I eat out often.

I never ask for discounts.  But if there is grilled chicken on the kids menu, I sometimes ask if I can order from the kids menu.  I have never been told no.

I don't want leftovers.  I am under NUT orders to not eat leftovers.  The frig dries out food and I have trouble with dry foods.

I don't think you really need the card.
