Dumping post VSG
I think I have dumping. Once after I ate an entire serving of really scrumptious high fat ice cream, I felt like crap afterwards and it lasted for a while. It was just one scoop, but a large scoop. Definitely felt shaky. Then over the holidays I had a lot of popcorn at the movies and it was drenched with butter, and I felt the same way. Both times I wondered if Iwas dumping. If I have a small amount of ice cream, I'm okay. Same with popcorn. Or maybe it's the fat content because both were high fat. But either way, it's not an experience I want to try again.
I have some of that - ice cream in particular sets it off but when I was less than a year post-op even a cookie if it was a rich one like peanut butter/M&M.
I get tired of people insisting that since I have a pyloric valve I can't dump but what else do we call it if it feels just like that?!
so I was happy to read this definition.
if I eat sugar on an empty stomach or too much sugar/ fat - just a little and I feel "icky" - nauseated, tired
more, and I feel like I need to lay down and I actual did that once at work, right on the floor.
best way to deal is don't eat that stuff!! and - fair warning - I tend to have this less as time goes on so I am trying hard NOT to "get used to" sugar.

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.
PM me if you are interested in either of these.

I'm a dumper too. Its not necessarily sugars that will affect me in that way either. Basically its whatever...which sucks the big one!! Sometimes it will last 30 minutes and sometimes it will last for a couple of hours. Had an episode y'day. Had to sleep it off.
I experience the sweating and extreme tiredness. Such a horrible feeling!!
Wonder if we'll always experience this??

I'm a DUMPER too! I get it mostly when I drink sugary drinks, like from 5bucks, or places like that. the first time it happened, we were celebrating the kids birthdays at Friendly's and I had a few bites of one of the ice creams, plain ol vanilla, by the time we hit the car, I was ready to DIE! Sick to my stomach, heart racing, sweating, feeling like i wanted to puke out the window, DIE! Now I know better, I do not even think to take a bite of that crap any more! they have SF stuff for me!
But hey I just ate 3 Oreos for breakfast with NO Problems, GO FIGURE! and yes they were counted into my calories for the day, my treat for getting my period today!

Me too! Unfortunately mine happens after everything I eat including my protein shakes. It really sucks. I'm just praying that it improves over time as I'm only a month out right now. My surgeon's office is quite shocked at this. The symptoms are improving over time so that's hopeful. right now I've just progressed to mushies and all I've tried is fat free refried beans and cottage cheese. I'm a little afraid as like I said I even dump with protein shakes.
I have dumped twice now. One was last night after eating part of a cupcake. I know it wasnt the best choice but its too late to take that back. The weird thing is, is that I am still having really, really bad nausea which I have never had before. It seems like it is a little too long to still be dumping? I hope I didn't mess anything up but ever since last night dumping I cant hold anything down. Anyone have anything like that happen?

What happens to me is nausea and diareah, stomach ache. This happens for me when I eat too much sugar. I can eat a couple bites of cake or something and feel fine. But if I have more than that then this happens. I'm glad it does because it helps me to control it. If I want a couple bites I have it but I know I can't do more or I'll feel aweful.
I have a question about this dumping. I have not had the sleeve yet, but sometimes for no apparent reason, while I am still sitting at the table, my stomach will start to rumble and I HAVE to run to the bathroom. Could this be considered dumping? Can you have that if you haven't even had the surgery yet?
