People...please be careful.Your life is worth more than a few grand, isn't it?
I mean, that's why your getting the surgery in the first place, isn't it???
To extend your life in a healthy manner?
Please do your research and find, above all else, a competent surgeon who has facilities to deal with true emergencies should one occur. If you pay $10K vs. $6K it may be well worth it in the long run. Please, just do your research and be careful.
Are you suggesting that because one surgeon charges less than another than they are somehow less competent than another?
What I see the original poster doing IS researching so I am not sure why you are suggesting that they do what they are already obviously doing.
Many of the surgeons in Mexico do work out of hospitals with emergency rooms, ICU etc just like in the US. In fact many of the US surgeons are now doing surgery out of surgery centers and not hospitals.
I think the original poster and the posters have replied were and are being careful and are sharing their successful surgery experiences.
Whatever you do is it truthful, necessary and kind?
Thank you everyone for your responses.
Maybe I was not clear, there seems to be a bit of confusion...as usual.
I AM SLEEVED and happy with my sleeve. I was asking for a friend.
I went to Mexicali with Dr Aceves and could not be happier. Competency is number one here. I went with Dr Aceves because of his competency and track record. He just happens to be in Mexicali and a much better price than in the states. The fact that recovery is in a hospital meant everything to me. I did not want this done in the states as an out patient. And I did not want to recover in a hotel.

Cheap surgeons are cheap for a reason, I would suggest she wait until she can afford a skilled surgeon. Read the boards, the cheaper the surgeon the more complications they have.
Check out Ungson and Rumbaut, they work out of real hospitals instead of Home Depot strip malls, they have trained and licensed staff, etc.
