i've been thinking... my nurse told me yogurt is ok to have while in the liquids ( i have three days left of liquids)... so i had some greek yogurt yesterday, it was really thick but i ate slow tiny bites... everything was just fine....
how is that any different than some runny refried beans??

i think because beans is all carbs not not actually good after WLS. i was told not to eat beans after Surgery which is fine by me since i dont like beans anyway.

Beans are also very high in fiber, which probably isn't a good thing for your incision.  Not anywhere near bland enough!

haha - i feel like i'm asking if i can eat beans... i'm not, i'm just wondering if yogurt is a normal "liquids" food! :o)

according to our plan, yogurt is a "full liquid". I"m not sure how it's considered a liquid either, but that's what I got from the nut.

My NUT told me in our pre-op class that anything that can become liquid at room temperature is considered a liquid. Unfortunately I have a milk allergy so I couldn't have the yogurt but I know it's a great source of protein.
I didn't start proteins until my mushie stage for that reason. I bought the Beneprotein but am seriously scared to us it cause it might make my food taste funny. Since surgery things taste different and I don't want to make it any worst.

Now, fat free refried beans are not a liquid. I didn't want ya'll to think that I thought they were. But, that said, they are not bad for you. And they were on my list of things that I could eat once I went to mushies. Not all carbs are bad carbs. They are high in fiber and they do have a good amount of protein in them. I just make sure I keep my carb count between 40-50 grams a day. Carbs to stay away from are your simple sugar carbs things like, bread, pasta and rice.
But, to answer your question about the yogurt being a full liquid. I wasn't sure about that either but I was so happy it was. : )

I think the yogurt is fine, but I'd be concerned about the "gas" effect in your tummy with beans.

mix a spoon full of yogurt with a spoonful of water - pretty liquidy. Do the same with a spoonfull of refried beans - still not a liquid state?

Yogurt, pudding and jello were all on my full liquids food list.

Yogurt was on the "soft foods" list for my post-op diet, as were mushy beans, applesauce, and popsicles.

I had two weeks of actual clear liquids.  The surgeon said the reason for this was to ensure the incisions were healed up nicely and there was absolutely no risk of pressure on them while healing.

I did the whole two weeks of clears and all was well.  I'm glad I did because I've had no problems whatsoever.
