I went to the doctor and my b12 is low. He suggested I give myself injections. The thought of it gives me the heebee jeebies. It will be alot cheaper doing it myself. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

I have a friend who has to do it, and I have had to give myself lovenox injections in the past. I work in healthcare but doing it to myself was a whole different ballgame. The plus is, you will probably only have to do it once a week. B12 is a subcutaneous injection so it is a little tiny needle and shouldn't hurt hardly at all!! I would recommend putting on your big girl panties, having the doc or nurse show you how, and just doing it yourself! You can buy a new outfit with the money save on not going to the doctor's office! :)

You CAN do this!

I have been giving myself B12 injections for about 15 years.  They are absolutely painless. You use tiny insulin needles and you can do it either in your thigh or your stomach.  It is very cheap and a great way to keep your levels up.  You will probably need to do them weekly if your levels are real low to get them up.  B12 deficiency is real serious and can lead to permanent nerve damage.  Shots can get your levels up pretty fast and keep them up.

I don't but I had to inject myself with heparin for 6 months as part of a pregnancy and it's not so bad. You get used to it.

I had to give myself Arixtra (blood thinner) shots after coming home from WLS. It took me about 45 minutes to get up the nerve to do the first one. After it was over, I had NO Idea why I was so worked up over it. It was much more painless than having someone else do it.

My B12 was extremely low so my surgeon started me on a sublinguil B12, it's made by Jamieson and it disolves on your tongue, it took 2 months of doing this everyday but my levels increased by about 80 percent and I felt so much better, i could actually tell that it was working without having the blood work tell me and it was only like 10 bucks a month.
I think I'd be like you and also have the heebee jeebies. I work in a nursing home and once I was trying to tell one of my patient that doing her blood sugar was no big deal and she said to me if "it's no big deal you do it first, i couldn't i was chicken. But i'm a big baby when it comes to needles.

Good Luck.
