Do you eat more than 3 times a day?
I eat 3 meals a day + 2 or 3 snacks. (My doctor said only eat 3x/day, but nut thought it made sense to add in snacks if they were protein snacks.) Snacks are usually a string cheese or a 1/2 protein bar. I'm considered a "lightweight" so I try not to compare myself to others - but 38 pounds in 11 weeks sounds good to me!

I was only eating three times a day but then I added two to three snacks between my meals and weight came off faster, I might add that my calorie count is still under 1000. I just divided up my allotted portion of food into smaller more frequent "meals". Since I am satisfied with a few bites it was easier to get all my requirements in that way. I have been adding fruits and veggies to my diet and many times those are the snacks.
I confess to eating at least 6 times a day. Breakfast is a protein hot cocoa. 70 calories. I always feel dehydrated in the morning but not hungry, so I drink. Today I had a networking luncheon at a chinese restaurant. I had 2 shrimp and a few veges, one piece of some deep fried chicken thingy, and two bites of some pork. I had some baked dried apple chips from costco when I got home (no added sugar or ANYTHING and organic) .. 58 calories a serving .. for dinner I had a few bites of yellow curry .. few bites of chicken, few bites of veges, a tiny bit of rice. Eating this much was actually a lot for me. I usually don't eat a whole bunch during the day, and can never eat a lot at once. Until I get to my protein bars at night. The hard thing to admit is that I have a protein bar AND a bag of soy protein pretzels at night. Plus, I had some more apple chips. All healthy foods,, but I hate that I still have my nightime eating thing...
Anyway, I am maintaining so it can't be that bad .. LOL. I have not been able to eat much more than a few bites of food since surgery .. so I eat more often because I DO get hungry.. then I have 3 or 4 bites and I am full. it works for me .. so far at least.

3 meals and 2-3 snacks daily - trying not to go past 3 hrs between. This way you never get hungry even if your ghrelin comes back - helps keep your blood sugar up/stable, helps you make better choices (because you aren't hunting for food while hungry and needing food NOW), etc. I would never be able to get enough good protein in to meet my needs/goals if I could only eat 3 meals a day.
I still have protein as my main component at every meal/snack.
For example, my goal is a min of 70g/protein.
B - 7-10g of protein (usually Quaker low sugar oatmeal made with milk)
S - 5-8g (yogurt, cheese string, 1oz of almonds)
L - 12-15 g of protein (small sandwich, 2 scrambled eggs, leftover meat from dinner)
S - 8-12g (yogurt, cheese string, 1oz of almonds, protein bar)
D - 12-20 g of protein
S - 5-8g (yogurt, cheese string, 1oz of almonds) or if I'm low, a protein bar, etc.

I always eat more than 3 times a day. I started as early as possible making a real attempt to eat whenever I am actually hungry - no matter how often that is.
I am still working on this but hunger should equal eat so you can learn to stop when you are no longer hungry.
easier said than done.

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.
