Do you eat more than 3 times a day?
RNY on 12/27/17
Just checking to see what others are doing. I have been eating 3 meals a day with no snacks and have not been successful as I should be. I have heard that if you eat 6 small meals a day your metabolism goes higher and the fat is burned. So, how many of you eat 5 to 6 meals a day? Can you give me a sample of what you eat? How is your weight loss?

Hey Baby Girl,
Did you get a chance to get your fasting insulin and blood sugar levels tested?
You may benefit from an rx for Metformin.
I have a pretty useful document that covers dietary guidelines for after the sleeve. If you want a copy I can email it to you :) Just PM me with your email addy and I will send you a copy.
I hope you are holding on ok - you've worked SO hard.
Hugs,
Mel

Hi Mel,
Always good to talk to you. I did get my fasting insulin and blood sugar levels tested. My fasting insulin was 6.8 i guess that's high. Blood sugar was good. So doc gave me rx for Metformin, 1000 mgs daily. I will PM you in a little while.
Thanks

I eat about 5 times per day, and I'm still in the slightly mushy stage.
I eat a yogurt for breakfast, 1/2c cottage cheese for a snack, 3oz turkey lunchmeat with a cheese stick for lunch (my biggest meal), an egg or two for an afternoon snack, and then a can of tuna or fish filet with a wedge of laughing cow light melted on it.
I have insulin resistance, and my surgeon pulled me off my metformin because he thought I might get too few carbs, but with the dairy, I'm getting between 40-70 usually.
I've lost 20lbs in 5 weeks, but I am a relative lightweight, so some may do better than me (also being back on my met would probably help). I'm also doing the elliptical 3x/week and weight training 3x/week.
If you are doing what your doctor suggests, try upping your exercise levels. I've lost 4lbs in the last 10days on my new exercise routine.
Best of luck to you!

I try to eat every day at the same times 9 am, 12 noon, 3 pm, 6 pm & 9 pm. This way I know when I'm going to eat. This has helped me A LOT. I either forget to eat or become I am very hungry. I eat 2-3 oz at each meal/feeding. Protein always first.
sample day:
9 am: protein shake (unjury chocolate made with 1% milk)
12 noon: 2 thin slices of deli roast beef & a wedge of laughing cow cheese with a dab of mustard
3 pm: half of a Detour bar
6 pm: 2-3 oz of steak or 1.5 chicken wings
9 pm: other half of Detour bar
I aim for at least 10 grams of protein at each meal. I still drink a protein shake in the mornings because they are easy and my tummy doesn't like solids first thing.
If I think I'm hungry before the next meal, I will eat a SF popsicle.
I only keep track of protein & liquids.
I try to eat three as my doctor is adamant about it. but breakfast isn't until 10 or so , lunch is a protein drink at 3 and dinner at 7 is. sometimes later in the evening i drink a glass of milk or a protein hot coco if i am short of protein. I think everyone has to find what works for them. never been a big morning eater. never will be. d
