EGD (endoscopy) Anyone?

I was wondering if anyone has had an EGD since their sleeve. I've had some pain when I swallow food & sometimes water so my PCP has ordered this test.

I had one about two and a half months after surgery. I was having incredibly bad pains on my left side...literally felt like I was being stabbed. It turned out to be a small ulcer which they cauterized during the EGD and I've been absolutely fine since.

It was a painless and quick procedure. They did put me under, so I was a bit loopy, but it's outpatient and nothing to worry about. : )

My doctor told me I would be sedated and that's just fine with me!!! I'm sure my experience will mirror yours...thanks for sharing :)

Had one 6 months post-op. It's no big deal, unless you are a big time singer. If you sing a lot, it WILL affect your voice for a few weeks. (It affects the extremes of your range).

I sing a lot (Choir and Barbershop Quartet), so it did affect me for some while. But it is still not a big deal.

A former Army Medic (1959-1969), Registered Nurse (1969-2000), College Instructor (1984-1989) and a retired Rehabilitation Counselor. I am also a dual citizen of the USA and Canada.

High Weight 412 lbs. Date of Surgery 360.5 Present 170 lbs

Had one yesterday. Had some pains over the weekend and my doc wanted to make sure I didn't have an ulcer. Everything checked out. I was asleep for the procedure.

Nope, Everything looked good on the EGD.

I told my docotor that I was a bit concerned that there was nothing found. He said that Plenty of people go to the ER that didn't have the Sleeve with severe stomach pain. He didn't think that the sleeve was the culprit as everything checked out.

He also told me I did the right thing. He said if you have more than four hours of pain the best thing is to have it checked out.
