Any Low BMI'ers that have had VSG?
I am a low BMI'er.
It's the best thing I've ever done for myself!!!!
I was also a self pay and traveled to MX for my surgery of which I absolutely do not regret. It was worth every penny.
The only trouble with food/drink that I have is drinking water. I have to drink something flavored or else it just feels like it's stuck no matter the temperature.
Food can be trial and error at first but for me, that went very smoothly. Some foods I can eat more or than others. Sometimes I can take only four bites of something whereas I can take 10 bites of something else. You just really have to listen to your body.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
Best wishes...
i am a low BMI'er i was a self pay i decided to go to india for the surgery and honestly the first 3 days after surgery i regretted my decision but some have an easier time than others... ill warn you make sure you empty out your bowl before you travel it makes a difference when you need to get the gas out after surgery. It was my mistake not to and i had major issues with gas. Now that i am just over a week out and feel 100x better i wouldnt change it for the world ive lost almost 20 lbs in about 9 days and it looks like it is still coming off. Its nice to put on clothes that didnt fit before or gave me major muffin top that now fit like a glove or in some cases are too big. Im sure you will do great
good luck
Thank you so much for your reply.
My BMI was 30.8. I was a self pay, went to Cancun Mexico, had my surgery with Dr. Sergio Verboonan...
BEST decison I have ever made! I actually eat and feel 'normal'... how cool is that? I still eat what I love, just a lot less of it.
I LOVE my Sleeve.
Go for it, you won't regret it!

I was a BMI of 30.2 on the day of surgery. I also went to Dr. Almanza and had a wonderful experience. I am now 6 weeks out and have lost 21 pounds. I am so glad I did this for myself. Most people that I have told have thought I was crazy for having the surgery with such a relatively low BMI. I try to explain that I used to be almost 260 at my highest. I was gaining back the weight that I had lost and I did not want to wait until I was back at 260 before I did something about it.
