I told myself I wouldn't, but apparently I am
I try not to compare my weight loss to that of others, but I can't help wondering... am I doing something wrong? I am down 83 lbs in 5 months. It seems like I should be a little farther along considering how much I had/have to lose. It seems like I will be at one weight for a couple of weeks, then lose 3-4 lbs and stay there for another week or so, etc. It feels like the scale never moves (but obviously it does - hello! 83 lbs! haha!) I keep telling myself that is great for 5 months, but... it's a little discouraging that even after the loss I've had I still have to wear my old clothes. I have ONE pair of jeans that is a size smaller than any of my other clothes (the ones in the pic I posted yesterday) and they are still too tight when I sit down. Granted I have gotten into some old clothes that I couldn't wear before, but I still haven't gotten to buy NEW sizes, ya know? Kind of a bummer. But I'm getting sidetracked here... My real questions are:
For those of you who are already well into your weight loss, like I am, what are you doing to make sure it keeps coming off? I can eat pretty whatever I want (but I usually don't) - no problems with eggs, in fact they are pretty much a staple for me. Do you measure or weigh everything? What kind of exercise do you do?
I appreciate the input!

OH my, Heather! You're doing GREAT! 83 lbs is phenominal weight loss in 5 months! I also hope to do as well as you've done! And we all know about the dreaded stalls... But have faith, keep on track and if you need to, add to your exercise and increase your protein.
I know I'm no where near your time post-op so I can't talk to that question. But I do know how you feel though. I feel I'm losing slower than everyone as well. But we're all different, have different dietary plans (every surgeon seems to have their own!) and everyone does (or doesn't) exercise at the same level.
I do weigh my food, bought a little digital food scale that has tare function (so you can weigh the bowl or plate first, then hit 'tare' and it goes to 0 again!) I figure I don't want too much on my plate to tempt me to overeat and then be uncomfortable (or stretch me new tummy!) And I'm terrible at 'guessing' weight and therefore can't keep track at my protein/carb intake for the meal.

You're doing fantastic...don't be so hard on yourself and remember that everyone is different. Your body is different than others as well.
Heck...look at me...I had my surgery on 1/12/10 and I've only lost 37 pounds. :P I could be all down on myself and beat myself up because I haven't lost as much as others, but I'm not going to do that because my body isn't like yours or anyone else's and it just processes weight loss differently.
You're doing phenominally well so don't worry about it!

HEATHER! Give yourself some credit! 83 pounds is PHENOMENAL. You are doing wonderfully. Pay attention to how much your BMI has gone down. Take some pictures and compare them to old ones.
I do the same thing, so I'm not going to tell you not to compare your loss to others, but compare it to yourself! 83 Pounds in 5 months is 16.6 pounds a month, which is over 4 pounds per week. When was the last time you consistently lost that much?
You gotta go through some **** to get to the **** you want.
KEEP IT UP and don't get discouraged - your results look sound great to me.

Are you KIDDING me???
You are losing 16.6 lbs a month on average. That is AWESOME!
The most I've seen (over time) is someone losing 16/month. You are on the high end of losing -- based on my averaging people's weight loss out for a looooooooong time.
Hang in there and be happy! You are doing amazingly well.
I'm just wondering what expecting based on your comparisons?

Heather Marie Jones!
Ok... I dont even know if Heather is your real first name let alone your middle, but this situation just seemed like I should be calling your whole name. You have got to be kidding. Please stop beating yourself up. You are one of the people I look for posts and updates from because we have similar starting weights and I think you are doing phenomenally.... beautifully.... outstandingly well.
If you were to keep up this rate, you will have lost 200 pounds in a year!!! 200 pounds!
Please stop being so hard on yourself. As far as the clothes go, I noticed your bottom half was swimming in those jeans you just posted. Maybe you carry your extra weight in your midsection making them tight when you sit down... but look at the rest of your body. Wow... I wish I could give you a big hug. You just dont know how happy I will be if I do half as well as you are.
Are you taking your measurements?

Okay once again I'm not sleeved so what I'm saying might not mean a thing to you but I hope it does. As a person on the outside looking in and reading about losing 83 POUNDS IN 5 MONTHS!!!!!!!!!!! OMG girl do you know how unfreakingbelievable that is???
Just ask youself before you had this surgery in your wildest dreams would you ever have expected to lose that much weight in five months? Hell I know I wouldn't.
I do have to say though that I feel your pain when it comes to wanting to buy new clothes in new sizes. I am the type of person that can lose a crap load of weight and still not go down in sizes and it sucks!!! I'll never forget the last time I lost a lot of weight I tried on the biggest size jacket in the plus size dept. and the f-ing thing didn't fit!!! Holy **** I was pissed to say the least. Here I grabbed the biggest size thinking it would be huge on me and hell not the damn thing wouldn't even button even though I'd lost a good amount of weight.
All I can say is you are doing awesome. Keep it up and before you know it you will be shopping for for those little sizes. Just believe in yourself and be sure to give yourself a big hand for what you've accomplished. I don't care if that sounds cheesy because it's true. So many of us don't give ourselves credit and you have done something remarkable. Hell I'd have a party if I lost a third of that in five months!!!! Seriously though keep up the good work!
