I understand your point, we are worth more than $$$$$.  That said, I could not have had surgery if it hadn't been for Dr. Almanza. I am very upfont and blunt. If there was anything to tell about my experience there, I WOULD DEFINITELY tell it. But there wasn't. He was an excellent surgeon, and very careful with me. I have a heart condition, and he used extreme caution, even so far as sending me for an echo before operating. (FYI- most thorough echo I have ever had.)
I was truly suprised at the quality of care I received in Mexico.
Betancourt was kind, however, because of my personal religious beliefs, had I known he was a homosexual, I may very well have not gone to Dr. Almanza. I am so glad I didn't know and went.  Dr. Betancourt was nothing but kind to me and my husband. For me, it wasn't really about Betancourt, as he was not operating on me- he runs the business side of things. Dr. Almanza is great. He really does care, and he is an excellent surgeon. I was shopping in Tijuana less than 48 hours postop. In a lot of ways it was like a vacation. I can do nothing but recommend Dr. Almanza, it really was that good.  I have absolutely no regrets. I wish you would have called me.
I had surgery on Feb. 3rd, flew home on Feb. 6th.  If you have any questions- don't hesitate to ask, I will answer as best as I can.

I really do not want to re-inflame any of the religious/political stuff we've had going on here recently, but can we please avoid homophobia (as well as racism, sexism, etc) here on the boards? I think that it's important to create a supportive environment for everyone.

I do respect your right to your beliefs, but I am also sincerely offended by displays of hatred such as this.

Thank you.

Thank you! My biological brother and my best friend are gay and this made me furious.
Some of the most helpful and kind members on thesee boards are gay including the lady that has been helping me draft another appeal.
I wonder if that same person does research into or cares weather all thier doctors are cheating on thier wives or taking care of their out of wedlock children. But I guess it is okay because they are straight.

Thank you!  I don't understand the logic of someone who says I wouldn't have gone to a homosexual doctor had I known, but am so glad I didn't know so that I went and benefited from the doctor's expertise -- hypocrisy in the extreme.

No kidding... what an ignorant statement to make.  WTF does the way he was BORN have to do with his skill as a surgeon??

OK, shut up Stacy.

Small correction...it is Dr. Bettancourt, the administrator, who is gay,not Dr. almanza, the surgeon. dr. Almanza is married to a woman.

*chuckle*

I do not know anything about either of them, but I do know that a man being married to a woman makes him a heterosexual, like kittens being born in an oven makes them biscuits.

That is not a logical argument.  Although, I have no issue with gay men, gay admins, gay women, homosexuals married to beards - whatever, just wanted to point out that was not much of a proving point.

LOL let me rephrase that. Dr. almanza is a married man. I had no reason to think he was not a heterosexual man.

Also,I don't have to prove anything...it was simply an effort to avoid misunderstanding about who is who.
