Can you take Zoloft after VSG

I'm currently scheduled to have VSG surgery but I do take Zoloft.  Can you take it after surgery as well?

There isn't much you can't take post op. I continued taking all of my medications without change post op. I take an SSRI now but was able to decrease my medication several months post op. I felt like a million bucks!

As long as the medications aren't extended release or sustained release . . . for example they don't have a SR/CR/XR/XL after the name (IE Paxil CR) they can be crushed or capsules opened and the contents taken that way.

Meds will need to be crushed/opened after surgery as you won't be able to swallow them whole.

I was able to swallow my pills whole pretty much within 48 hrs of surgery. You need to see what guidelines your surgeon has about taking pills, capsules etc. You also want to check with your pharmacist about what options there are around cutting up or crushing your pills.

I take Zoloft - 100 mg (yellow capsule shaped).  My doc let me take them the night of my surgery along with my blood pressure pills.

Consulting your doctor about your concern is the best thing to do at the moment. Actually a lot of reports have been reflecting various harmful side effects of the antidepressant Zoloft. In fact, numerous Zoloft lawsuit has been filed by affected patients against its manufacturing company, Pfizer.

I was able to take all my meds after surgery: that  includes extended release and capsules.  NO crushing of any meds.  Effexor XR, Levoxyl, fenofibrate and Yaz.
