nervous for tomorrow/ What to take to hospital?

I asked this same question the other day - these were the ones that I thought would help me:

baby wipes - for quick hospital clean-up
small container of favorite lotion
small shampoo/conditioner if you have difficult hair or are picky
hair brush and hair ties
toothbrush/toothpaste - if you like your own flavor, etc
deodorant
insurance card, medical power of attorney, medication list
sanitary napkins - many women get immediate cycle from surgery
eye mask/eye plugs if sensitive to light/sound
robe - for your walks

If you have asthma, any rescue inhaler you may have.

Hi Amy:
My day is tomorrow too . . . I am really, really nervous. Between trying to make sure my Mom knows the kids routine and finishing up last minute stuff at work, I've never given one thought what to bring to the hospital at dawn-thirty tomorrow!! Thanks for your post -- I have greatly benefited from all of the replies.

Good luck tomorrow. I jus was fixing my son/s dinner and started thinking I'll never be able to eat like this again. It looked so good I almost said forget it and pigged out. After this 2 week liquids, I wouldn't do it . Maybe I am learning a litle self control. I hope recovery is swift and smooth for all of us.

Hi Amy,

I'm nervous too, and I still have a week.  By this time tomorrow it will be down and you'll be on the loser's bench!  Woohoo!!!

I remember that out of control feeling the night before my surgery, I was alone in Mexico and I cried and cried, and thought about leaving, but then I thought about my daughters, and what kind of mother I want to be for them, so I cried myself to sleep, and here I am 2 months later with no regrets! You will feel the same way very soon, it's so normal to go through lots of emotions now, and over the next few weeks, so please let us know how you're doing :)

Here's to an uneventful sugery and a speedy recovery

We'll see ya on the losers bench !

Just wanted to send you well wishes for a speedy recovery and a great surgery!!

Thanks for asking this question and thank you for all that posted. I'm still pre-op but this is great info to have.

I love the sock idea (of just leaving the slipper/socks there! hehe)! I'm totally going to do it.

I'm in Mandeville.  I do like Dr. Lavin, but I've only met him once.  The office is pretty busy...

I'll be thinking about you and sending positive energy.  Mine is scheduled for Monday the 5th so I know what you're feeling.  I think that thinking about it too much makes us crazy.  Sometimes we just need to jump into the deep end :)
