I just really fully realized that tomorrow I am having surgery and my life will be forever changed. I am not sure exactly how I feel right now. Part of me feels like crying, part like laughing. I am worried that I might-- No  I don't even know why I am worried. Is it normal to feel out of control at this point?any ideas on what to take to the hospital would be appreciated too.

just taggin' along to see what people suggest before I pack my bag. :)

Hi there,

Is Anoke your name?  Go ahead, laugh and cry...it's all normal.  I brought some ....

- Gas X strips

- comfy flannel pj's with a button front shirt style

- slippers, or slip on style foot wear

- a small pillow for the plane ride

Don't forget to take some before photos, you'll really appreciate seeing the difference as you lose.  Post when you're back.

No, my name is Amy. Thats from my email profile. Thanks for posting. I got the gas x strips and the slippers and pj's. I didn't take before pictures. maybe I can do that tonight. I have been avoiding the camera for a while now. I'll post again when I am home.

Hi Amy,

Don't worry about the picture phobia, after 3 months with the sleeve you'll laugh at your camera shyness and have a hard time believing that was you back in those pictures.  Take them tonight because the comparison thing is just too worthwhile.

Take your measurements now.  This is so important later on when you have the inevidable stall.  You will always lose inches before you lose weight and it is so comforting to reassure yourself that everything is working the way it should.

Like the others said....take pictures and measurements TODAY.  It is perfectly normal to have all the emotions you have right now!

I stayed in the hospital gown while I was in the hospital.  I took a robe to throw over my shoulders while I was out walking the halls.  The hospital provided non slip socks.  I wore those till I went home...left them at the hospital, so as not to take any of those floor germs home with me!

Carmex and a long handled back scratcher...pain meds make me itch.  I wore home what I wore in to the hospital.  Baggy long sleeved t-shirt and baggy stretch waist pants.

The hospital had everything else I needed.

Good luck and let us know when you are back home!
