My surgeon put me on solids after 2 weeks, is that wrong?

I'm wondering if that stretched my pouch out, because certain foods it seems I can eat a lot of. I'm hungry frequently.
I have taken a lot of you all's advice, so thank you. For instance, I bought the glucose tablets (I never even knew they existed but goodbye to desperately seeking sugar during a crash, so thank you so much for that one!). Also eating proteins first, getting in about 70 grams per day. Not drinking until 1.5 hours after eating. Also eating 3 times per day instead of snacking all day.
This has helped a bit, but I'm still stalled for 7 days now. Have not lost an ounce.
My surgeon had me on liquids for one week post surgery, mushies for the next week and solids after that. I'm wondering if that stretched the pouch? Everyone else here seems to be on liquids and mushies for about a whole month. I was only for half a month.
What thinkist thou?
Also, one more question if you don't mind: Those of you who have had the sleeve, at what point did you notice your hunger going away? And do yo think it has to do with the ghrelin being gone, or your new low carb type diet?
Thanks for some insight all.

All surgeons have their ways. but I can say that I was doing very well, so my surgeon put me on soft solids at two weeks. That was two weeks ago and I can still only eat 2 oz at a time. He wants me to eat about every 4 to 6 hours. All surgeons have their ways. I haven't stalled yet, but I imagine it is coming. Your body adjusts to what you are eating so you have to change it up to fool it into buring fuel again. Sometimes this means adding a little fat or a few more carbs or taking away. Track what you are eating and try switching it around some and see if that starts it again.
I think being given permission to eat is okay, if you can handle it. You probably still will want to stick with some pretty moist foods tho...and take it slow.
Most people experience their first stall around 3 weeks...seems like maybe you are starting at 2...don't worry, it can and does happen, and it can and sometimes does seem to go on and on and on...but your body is adjusting, and you will begin to lose again.
I never lost my hunger...I still get hungry...but it takes a whole lot less to fill that hole now..LOL...so having hunger is normal, and okay...soon you will probably notice a decrease...but you may always get the signal.
I do know for me...although I do not follow a "low carb" diet...I do try and keep the carbs down, and try and eat healthier carbs...If the cookie monster inside me gets out...then yup, I get hungrier than normal...just because eating processed carbs leads to craving more carbs. You shouldn't have to wait that long after eating to drink...Probably waiting 1/2 hour to 45 mins is good enough...the water will help with the hunger issue too.

Thanks for your reply. Actually I stalled at 3 weeks. I'm now at 4 weeks and 2 days post surgery. I had a weird surgeon, really. Didn't "believe" in pain meds. GRRRR..... I really suffered, popped a stitch the first day post op and ended up back in the OR (so 2 surgeries in 24 hours) (STILL no pain meds!!! I was traumatized!!!) But at least he didn't make me do a pre-op diet and I could eat mushies after a week post op.
I wish the hunger feeling would go away... that was one reason (and there were many reasons, but that was one) that I choose the VSG over the lap band.
I've got to get my profle info up there....

Stalling is so normal..but it will end. It could take 3 weeks or even more.
Hunger sucks...but is it better then before? I take prilosec and it might be helping...but I dont know. Hunger was really bad during my stall but it seemed to subside after. I have no idea why though!
Just take it easy with food. I was on liquids until 2 weeks then had 4 weeks of purees. I just got put on regular food at 6 weeks and there is no way I could have tolerated them until 5 weeks or after

No Pain Meds, that is nuts... Did you get a VBG or VSG?? Do you know the size of your tummy.
He probably doesn't give Acid Reducer either??? You could be experiencing acid. Many use Prilosec OTC. If he does not prescribve PPI's, use OTC, see if that helps the hunger.
How much water/fluids are you getting in? I ate 5-6 times a day in the beginning. Suggest you measure your foods, either with a scale or in a measuring cup. Soft/mushie foods you can eat more than solid proteins.

Yea, he was nuts.
It' s weird, he was really really gentle when taking off bandages, etc. But I guess a bit sadistic as well, because I was in excruciating pain and all he gave me was Paracetamol every 6 hour (and not a minute before 6 hours!!!) which is Tylenol basically. I am ony just NOW getting over the pain under my incision.
I got a VSG with a 36 Fr bogie, so not sure what size my stomach is. Do you know?
I tried the Prilosec today.... not noticing muc of a difference. Maybe Prolosec takes a couple of days to work?

Regular foods on day 15 were fine. I chewed them well, but no problems going down, nothing came up. I ate regular food. Not pureed, not mush.
There have been a few times I ate something that gave me heartburn and I learned quickly what those foods were, never to be repeated (or at least not for a long time!)
I guess this is a learning curve I'm on...
Isn't it TOO SOON to be stalling????? At 4 weeks?? I mean, come ON! After all that pain. All that money. I wanted to be losing a pound a day like the first 3 weeks for awhile longer! I knew that would slow down eventually, but I also know the major weight loss is in the first 6 months. A week or more stalled is eating into that statistic greatly.

The good thing about the sleeve from what I understand is that nearly all of the stretchy part of the stomach has been removed. It took a while for me to understand how it worked and that it was working for me. I am very aware when I have eaten enough, and that lasts me for 2 - 3 hours, Unlike most of the others who post, I also started out on real food at about the 2 - 3 week mark, and have had a few stalls since.
Hunger is nowhere near what it was pre sleeve, but like aniduff said, carbs can trigger the desire to eat (in my case sometimes the wrong foods) For the first months I completely lost the desire for sugary foods and can still pass up most things easily, but I am a bit of a grazer so I need to watch that. Stalls have been with me too since about 3 weeks out, but in spite of them (some lasted for 4 weeks) I have still lost 65lbs.
Just keep the faith that it will come off, it is just about learning what is going to work for you. Some of those who have posted on here who have been sooooooo disappointingly slow with their losses have continued to lose. I am definitely a slower loser too, but I am 100% okay with that. Marion
