Nothing wrong with baby steps.  I know back pre-op, I HAD to drink with meals - believe me, I know how hard it is, but you can do it!

Hi.  You are very brave to do this.  I will account with you.  However, I just want to share some things with you.
Vitamins - I tried a bunch.  Can't stand swallowing pills - never could.  I take "Slice of Life" Multi vitamins.  They are like cewable gummie bears only they look like slices of fruit.  They taste like candy.  You can chew them or just let them melt in your mouth.  You can find them on line or at the Vitamin Shoppe.
Exercise - You do sound too busy.  Why don't you pledge today to park far away (if you drive) so you can get more walking in to and from school, work, etc.  Do you have stairs where you live?  If so, take them twice for every one time you go up and down.  I am bad at this also.  I broke my toe and they had to put a pin in it and I have been unavailable to do anything for the last 8 weeks.
Food Journaling - Get yourself a hard cover book and just start writing everything down including how you feel, etc.  This is the only way I can figure out how much protein I had and still need, liquids, etc.
Good luck girl.  Linda

1.  Even though I can't walk alot or run or do aerobics, I can still lift weights.  I promise I will get better at that.
2.  I will work on getting in more protein.
3.  More liquids.

I have been feeling the same way.  I have been letting too many carbs and sweets into my diet.  I don't think I have been getting enough protein.  I just got a FREE app for my iphone.  It's called Lose it!  You might be able to get something like it on the computer.  It calculates how many calories I consume each day including protein.  And it subtracts out excercise calories.  To me, it's easier than trying to write it down in a journal.
Good luck!

Unfortunately, I am iPhone-less.      But I am using thedailyplate.com, it sounds pretty similar.
Hopefully we can both get right back on track!

Thanks for your support!

I will definately google those fruit slice vitamins (I LOVED the fruit slice candy... these sound right up my alley!)
I have a teeny tiny flight of stairs where I live, I will keep that in mind.  I try to utilize them as exercise as much as possible.  If I clean my house, for instance, I will bring trash out one bag at a time, instead of trying to only make one trip.   I also have an eliptical and a Wii FIt, I need to get better at utilizing those as well!
I know it is so hard to keep track of what you need for the rest of the day without writing stuff down.  I always end up scribbling on a piece of scrap paper, but I do need something more concrete.  Thanks for the great idea!

Glad you are joining the challenge.  Do you have concrete numbers for these goals?  Like do weights 4 times a week?  How much more protein do you want?  How many more liquids?  I think it helps to have specific goals, so that you know if you are really doing it or not.

Have you tried Celebrate vitamins? Mmmmmm so good! They will even send you free samples if you email them. They are specially designed for people that have had WLS-- they are chewable too.

Mmmmm....

Goals?

Well, here are mine... Keep in mind I am still pre-op...

1. Take my pre-op multi vitamins 3 times a day! That's been a difficult one.

2. Slow down on drinking my water. Getting water in has always been easy to me--  I drink at least a gallon a day. The big change after the surgery is going to be sipping water, not chugging it!! lol

3. Getting mentally prepared for surgery.

We can work together on the vitamin thing!

You know, I was a chugger too, but I never had any problems drinking water post-op.  I don't think you really have to worry about it.  Obviously you don't want to hurt yourself, but you won't.  I think drinking when you're NOT thirsty might be better, actually.  That was the hardest part for me.  Since I automatically took smaller drinks, it was hard.  I needed to realize that I had to drink when I wasn't thirsty to get all of the water in.    Just a tip for ya for later.
But if you think its going to be a problem, sure, I'll help you with your goals!

As for getting mentally prepared - I don't really have suggestions about that, but I'm more than willing to share my experiences with you if you have any ?s along the way.
