So, I signed up to do the breast cancer 3-day walk in October this year before I even signed up for surgery.  The medical id bracelet that Dr. A. gave me says I am a dehydration risk.  I guess that is because my tummy now can only handle a certain amount of water at a time.  Walking 60 miles, I am going to need ALOT of water.  Do you think this is enough for me to back out?  I have already started fundraising so I hate not going through with it.  I was thinking maybe I could just walk half days instead of the full days.  Luckily I have to some time to think about it, just wanted to see what you guys thought about the water issues.

Thanks again!

Steph

I say go for it and good luck!

14 pounds lost before surgery. My first ticker is when I hit onderland: this was my goal when I started on this journey.  I want to focus on that right now...once I get there I can reevaluate.

My second ticker is my dream goal. Even if I only visit there for a short time, it would be nice to see that number just once.  I am pretty sure I'll need plastics to hit this goal.

I am sure that by October you will be able to do it.- it gives you 8 months to get yourself ready, and if you felt uncertain close to the time you could make a decision about participating in the full walk or do half days then.   I don't believe hydration will be a huge problem by then either - you should  be able to keep up your hydration!   Good luck

While we may be more prone to dehydration then the next person by October you should be getting in a good amount of water.  After my 3rd month I was getting in about the "norm" 64oz.  In addition it's a walk as opposed to a run or marathon and there are always lots of water stands every so often.  Get one of those water belts with you and when you finish one you can refill at the stands along the way.

I say all that to say GO FOR IT and enjoy it!  You'll be thinner, hydrated and just in awe of the whole experience.
