Help needed Band was scheduled changed to sleeve
Big PROPS to your insurance company for paying for the sleeve and not the band.
My surgeon REFUSES to place a LapBand on any patient. Too many issues - slippage, erosion into stomach, constant reflux, inability to hit "the sweet spot" for restriction.
I love my sleeve! I only wish I had done it sooner.
Just today I had an appt. with my PCP and he is so amazed with the results I'm having with the sleeve, he asked if he could refer some of his patients to me for information if they are considering WLS!
7-1/2 months out and I'm down from 260 to 178. 22/24W to 12/14 pants and 3XL to M/L tops!

Congratulations on that surprise. Most insurance companies do not pay for the sleeve because it's irreversible. Being that I'm in pain, I now understand why they don't pay.
Do you homework, read as much as you can on the sleeve. Make sure your body/stomach can handle the sleeve. If I could go back, I would have had an endoscopy to check my stomach for ulcers before I had the surgery.
There are many benefits of the sleeve as compared to the RNY but do your research.
The results are so exciting we tend to forget about the complications that can arise. Cover all your basis.
If you have any questions about the stomach pain, please ask. I don't want to push all my story on everyone here, so just email me if you want to.
Hugs

Fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not saying anything bad about the band cuz I never had one although I did consider it but once I research it I decided against it, I found that too many people that have had the band have complications and end up at some time having it removed and either having nothing or converting to the sleeve so..........
Congrads the sleeve is the best thing I have ever done and reccommend it to everyone I know looking into WLS.
Good Luck ask any questions you want we all love to help and answer.
Cheers

WOW!!!! How lucky are you to have your insurance pay for the vsg!!! Congrats!! Not to many insurance companies are paying for the vsg yet.
Do your research on the vsg, before you get it done so you know what it's all about and what to expect. I personally love my sleeve!!! I've done great with it and at right at 2 years out I am still mainatining. Have been for the last year and a half. Good luck to you and let us know how things go for you.
