Nausea after Eating

I find that sometimes I get nauseas after eating.  I don't think I am over eating, as I haven't been sick and not really having any pain.  I'm staying away from carbs.  Any thoughts?

Do you still have your gallbladder?

Yes, they did an ultrasound when I was in the hospital and they said it was OK.  Can that cause it?

yes... your gallbladder can cause this.  you might want to have them do a HIDA scan on you.  It will show them the function of your gallbladder.  Not everyone has stones (which is all that would show up on an ultrasound).  I had a gallbladder functioning at 8% and sludge.  I would ask my surgeon to order this test.

Are you on a proton pump inhibitor? If not (or either way) you should talk to your doc...
Hope you are feeling better soon.

Hi, I am taking Protonix. I noticed that the nausea had increased when I started that PPI over the Nexium.

This is something I suffered from occasionally, but I know of one of my sleeve friends here in NZ  who often gets it.   She was sleeved about the same time as you, and has found it difficult to transition onto more solid foods, and finds it easier to stick with mushies because she can feel quite sick as in feeling like she wants to puke after eating - and she does not overeat at all.   I remember getting the feeling if I ate something that I used to be able to eat easily before surgery, but my body could not handle it after until much later.   I am sure it will pass eventually - I am okay at 6 months out.

Alot of times when I get this it is because of one of three things.  They are:

- I either ate too fast
- The food feels like it has expanded (mainly when I try to eat chicken)
or
- I need to take an additional Protonix pill

I hope it gets better soon.  Take care!
