Yucky white stuff, anyone?

Okay, so it's a little gross, but... I'm sitting here drinking an Isopure Zero Carb Passion Fruit drink in the 20 oz glass bottle, trying to get in my protein & fluid, and I keep feeling something in my mouth... Like if you have a hair in your mouth, or something foreign like that.  So, I stick my finger in my mouth to try to get it out, and at the back of my tongue, there's this white mucus-like substance.  Yuck!  I thought - you know, I've had a cough, so maybe it's just a little phlegm.  Yucky, but... what're you gonna do?  So as I sit here and drink more, it's happened three more times!  It's oogy!  Is this a side effect of some protein drinks, or do I just have a nasty mucus problem?  I know, this may not be a surgical side effect or anything even related, but I thought I'd check with y'all.  If it's an Isopure thing, I'll switch to another supplement.  If it's just me, I'll deal.

I would call your doctor and ask about Thrush. What your describing sounds like what I had- which was Thrush. Thrush is a yeast infection and at least mine was on my tongue and throat. It felt like I had to clear my throat all the time.

do things you are drinking taste sour?

If your doctor does think it is thrush I would ask for the pill, diflucan to clear it up! I went through two different rinses before I got the diflucan and that was the only thing that worked!

Thanks, Kelly.  Nothing tastes sour - if anything, I'm having trouble with the ultra-sweetness of some things.  I just wondered - since nothing else has had this effect to date, and I don't have a visible white coating on my tongue.  I don't feel bad at all.  I'll call my doctor & see what they say.  Thanks.

I havent had that happen with any other supplements but Isopure, it comes in a glass bottle and has the color of like gatorade, but when you shake it you can see little floatie things in it.  I had that before when I drank it and I think it was just the drink gathering in my mouth.  Whenever I took a sip I felt like I needed a drink of water afterwards to rinse it down.

I was drinking isopure at the beginning also and had the same, nasty, stringy whatever it was happen to me too! This is just a buildup of protein that doesn't digest in your stomach that sneakily makes its way back to your tongue- its CRAZY i know! Not to be gross, but you have to literally scrape it off your tongue. It's only been 3 weeks and I can't stomach isopure anymore. It just leaves a funny taste in my mouth. I havn't tried any other protein drinks so I'm not sure if this happens with others or not. If it doesn't bother you though, I wouldn't worry about it. It's not a big deal, and it's not really a medical emergency (even though it looks like one! ) good luck!

Thanks so much!  According to the doc, it's not thrush, so... You know, I drank one of these yesterday, but only had half at a time & it didn't do it.  Today, I drank the whole thing - maybe it was just too much to handle.  I'm glad it's not just me.    Guess I'll try again tomorrow & see - or just switch to the Nectar.

I had thrush for about 4 weeks, then as I was able to better hydrate myself it went away.  I tried Isopure a couple years ago and it made me want to .  You should try just straigh****er and see if that's the problem.  I also started squeezing lemons into my water! LOL.  I actually went through a phase that I was sucking on lemons.  LOL.  Anyways, I hope hairy mouth goes away :)

Good luck!!

Thanks!  I can drink water & everything clear I've tried with no problem.  Guess I'll have to keep trying other stuff to avoid the Isopure ick!

So.. I'm trying different protein solutions.. I'm having my sleeve done on Monday, and I just googled "isopure mucus" lol cause I had this experience, kinda thought I was choking too. It was kinda gross.. REally needed to rinse my mouth and throat w/ water afterwards... On the bright side, it helped me get some more water down via washing away the mucus feel.
