Topic: Surgery Procedure Question??
Hi All,
The surgeon that I think I am choosing does a combo procedure.  He does the VBG with Sleeve. Anyone ever had this procedure and what are your thoughts about it? Likes, dislikes, successes?
Thanks for any insight you all might be able to give.
Jen

I just had the VBG 4/16/10 and thought I did something to myself because of the pain. I guess everyone is different! The only thing that has helped me tremendously was ice!

Yes surgery went well! I agree! anyone thinks that this is the easy way out has no idea the emotional and physical stuff that you go through.  My husband had his 10 yrs ago and it is even better now but he says he remembers all those feelings that I am having now.  I am glad that he is beginning to eat  a little more now. I will be praying for you both and please let me know your surgery date and I will keep a check on you both.  Thanks for the should it is nice to talk with someone other than family.  Kind of strange I say that but sometimes I want an unbiased opinion or thought.

Thanks my new friend!

You Rock...Thanks!
Seems like every day he is getting a little better, then he has a bad day! Yesterday and today are one of them. He cant stand protein shakes of any kind. It makes him almost vomit. He is able to eat a little more now. Just trying to get him to take him Vitamins like he is supposed to. I swear anyone who says that this is "The easy way out", has no flippin idea what they are talking about. There is sooo much more to this than we even knew. We thought we were so completely educated and well versed in everything. Not at all. I cant imagine going into this uninformed. Thank you so much for the shoulder.
How is everything with you? Your surgery went well I take it?
I just got the letter today from my surgeon saying I was approved I just needed to pay my portion of the surgeons fee and then I will get my date.. Bonus day today!  YEA!!!!
Take care, and know Im here also if you need to talk.
Thanks Friend!

Glad to read your story. I had vbg/fobi pouch by dr fobi in 1985.. I went from 400 lbs to 240.. then shot back to 300..down to 240, etc.. stablized at 295. Because food still got stuck and I had vomiting, I thought it was still intact. I had an upper gi and there is no evidence of stapling. I am scheduled for revision to rny 5/12...  hope this lasts longer than the vbg did.

Shannon, I do not think that it is being a worry wort it is just taking precautions.  I did not experience the nausea but the loose stools come and go for me and I am only 2 weeks out of surgery.  Now, everyone responds differently so take everything in stride.  I have found that the diet Muscle Milk for my protein intake works well for me, also to be sure you can get some fluid in try sugar free juice pops they tend to settle the tummy and also taste pretty good.  Just some suggestions-chicken broth and beef broth helped me alot too-I still have some every couple of days.  Let me know how it all works out and hey I am here if you need to talk!!

I read on the VSG board earlier today about a woman who suggested mint. You can get at nutritional stores. Also she had a link to a place that sold it in water...check the VSG board.
