Topic: RE: Dr. Mario Alberto Almanza-Reyes

I have serious doubts about this post's authenticity. I read an identical post in another forum on this website about two weeks ago.
I had surgery with Dr. Almanza 10 days ago. I saw him every day after surgery until I returned home. The clinic and recovery house staff ww attentive and professional.
I went to Mexico to have surgery with the expectation that everything would be different than a typical US surgical procedure. I got what I went for. I was well-cared for, and my recovery has been swift and free of complications.
Tragedies happen everywhere, occasionally due to neglect, usually due to our humanity. My experience with the Jerusalem Clinic staff is that they provide conscientious, professional care to their patients. A healthy dose of skepticism is required here.

Topic: RE: diarrhea?

I'm nine days out myself, and I suspect that almost anything is "normal" at this point. I was experiencing the same difficulty, the first few days. I replaced the majority of the fruit juice intake with yogurt drinks, and that solved the problem.
Best wishes for a successful recovery!

Topic: Leaving the Hospital
The pain during the first day was excruciating. As I am in the second day it still hurts, but I feel better. I cannot believe how hungry I was yesterday, but I have been able to eat a spoonful of jello so my hunger is much better. I can feel the food going down when I swallow. I have lost some lbs. but I don't know exactly how many after surgery. More to come....

Sorry to hear about your rough day! Good news... you're one step closer to your surgery! Good luck!
Topic: RE: anyone have an underactive thyroid and had VBG done??
Yes I have an underactive thyroid and had the VBG done 7 months ago and I am down 100+ pounds. I haven't had any complications and my thyroid levels haven't changed. My endocrinologist has checked my level twice since my surgery everything is fine no changes. I hope this helps to answer any questions

Topic: RE: VBG/RNY anyone had this done
I had VBG performed in CT by Dr. Valin in December 2008. I didn't want to have my insides rearranged and didn't want to drop a ton of weight either and just be skin and bones. I'm extrememly happy with the results. Heide
Topic: RE: Any Dr. Valin Patients that had VBG?
Well I also had vbg in December 2008 when I was 298 and now I vary from 204-211, depending on what time of month it is being a woman, lol. I have a goal of 188 but honestly I haven't been pushing myself to reach it but recently have been focusing on reaching my goal by the new year.
When I was doing my research vbg wasn't popular nor were many people opting for this procedure. What I liked most was that my insides weren't moved around and it was one of the less invasive surgeries. I wasn't looking to loose too much weight and gastic really scared me. I'm happy where I'm at and if you every need support let me know! Good luck! Heide

Topic: RE: vbg surgery... anyone over 300lbs
Hi, I was 298 when I had my VBG done in December 2008. I've lost close to 100 lbs and liked this surgery best since it didn't re-route my insides and liked that my weight loss was slow and not drastic. I honestly didn't want to have a huge weight loss quickly and since I'm tall didn't want to be all skin and bones. Would love you to add me as a friend if you need support. Enjoy your day! Heide
