Topic: RE: VSG questions
first off, congrats on nursing school! I am a nurse and graduated in 2007. I have not have the surgery (but if you are getting the sleeve you are in the wrong room lol- I am getting the sleeve as well and stopped in here because my Mom had the VBG) Anyway- from what I hear, for heavy lifting you need to be out one month (thats how long I will be taking off from my job as a pediatric RN). However, the first SEVERAL weeks you will not be doing clinicals (I have never heard of a school that immediately does clinicals) so you should be cool to go to school about 2 weeks after surgery. Thats just my opinion and you will def want to ask the doctor. Good luck! =)
Topic: Self Pay,,,what next?
Hello,
I go to my first apt on Wed. 1pm. I am beside myself with excitement and have decided I am not going to jump through any more hoops in my life!
Does anyone know how soon they can do surgery once they talk to you and do blood work?
I am so excited to get going!
I've been on a high protein, low carb diet since the end of Feb. so am feeling happy to have conquered the sugar thing and cravings thing!!
Already drink 120 oz water a day. Exercise on my stationary bike about 30 min per day. So ready to go!!!
I appreciate all the great answers and opinions people here have shared with me!! I think it is great that we have this group to help each other!!
Have a great evening!

Topic: RE: Would you do it again?
The deleted response started out as: "No I would not for some ppl this surgery is real hard on the body. They could not manage my pain for 2 days and did not know if my iv was even supplying and medications. I am 2 weeks out tomorrow and still..." This is all I have from that post. My deleted response was directly intended for her. Since her post is deleted, I deleted mine.

Topic: VSG questions
Hello, I was wondering if anyone could tell me how long it took them to get back to work/school after surgery. I am about to start nursing school in late aug and am considering having the VSG done. since I am self pay I can have it done pretty quickly. Also anyone have regrets wishing they would have done a different surgery? or not at all?I have my consult a week from today and I'm just a little scared of having a vital organ mostly removed lol
also i know i will prob have to do a pre op diet, any product recommendations?
thanks!! look forward to your responses

Topic: RE: difference in VBG and sleeve
Hi! I had a lap band in 2007 and lost around 40lbs in beginning and then stopped having any restriction. Had a new port put in...no change, so i decided to have the sleeve and am very excited. From all I have heard, people really have good success with this.
I am wondering though the differenc in lap band and the gastric band (VBG) do you know?
So far I would recommend the change to sleeve, but am not really far enough out of surgery to tell you...am still on liquids at this stage!!

Topic: RE: Would you do it again?
absolutely!!!!! I am only 3 1/2 months out and there have been days when I have said why did I do this to myself but I feel sooooo much better and have so much more energy than I did 4 months ago. Most of the bad days were the first few weeks after surgery. I have not had a bad day in a while. I had a rough time the first few weeks after surgery but I would defintely do it all over again!!!
