Topic: RE: This is happening too fast!
Anissa, I went through the same thing. I went to see my surgeon on July 20th, didn't have the money up front for the psych visit so I put it off thinking I would go back later. I get a phone call in November telling me I was approved in August, but insurance didn't notify me or doctors office. She proceeds to tell me I only have 6 months to have surgery after being approved and January is already filled up. So Dec. 16 had psych evaluation, Jan. 6 nutritional class, Jan. 16 all lab work and final appointment on Jan. 24 for my preclearance. Then my surgery is on Feb. 7 at 6 a.m. It is alot for a person to take in and adjust to in a short amount of time, but I think if I didn't have to do it this way would I change my mind if it took months to get all of these things done. Everything will work out fine, now is the time to get house cleaned and things straightened away so you can rest when you get home from the hospital. So go take a long and relax. The best time is yet to come. (((((hugs))))) Tammy

Hi Robin, I am only about 6 weeks post-op, but I aslo have other medical issues that effect exercise. I broke my back in 1984 and have permanent nerve damage. From mid calf down, both legs, on any given day I either have no feeling or hypersensitivity (and they don't cycle together). Later while working with those issues, the doctor found a degenerative condition in my neck. So, I am not supposed to do any impact exercise or really not even much walking. I had a pool at my last house and swam every day. I don't have that any more and I do need exercise. So, here is what I do. I wear ankle braces to support my feet when I can't feel them and I walk as much as I can stand. Then I get on my tricycle and ride it. Riding isn't as good for me, but it is what I can do short of building a heated pool. I think you are already back inthe right diet/food groove. Good luck and keep it up. Happiness... MKJ

I guess what I am really asking for is for all of you to kick me right in the A$$ and get me back on track. I have really had a bad few months first a hystorectomy(sp) after I healed from that,I fell down my stairs and messed up my back and knee. So I was not able to excersise for quite a long time, I did still walk but not like i was doing, and now it is icy and cold here in MN.Then the holidays came around(all of the goodies) and in the last 9 months I have managed to gain 10 lbs and I am really scared that I wont be able to loose them. I have been having alot of trouble getting back on track and would like to hear from any of you that have had the same problem and how did you do it. It will be 3 years since I had my vbg and I went from my highest weight of 365lbs to my lowest weight of 195lbs and I was so happy but now I am just plain scared because I am back up to 205 and that I have screwed things up and all of the weight I lost will come creeping back I am back to water water water watching what i am eating (STAYING AWAY FROM THE SWEETS) and trying to excersise as much as i can but my back and knee are still pretty sore and can only do so much. any other advice would be very helpful Thanks for listening Robin

Hey Fellow VBG Choosers, Just wanted to post results so far. I had my 5 week check up yesterday. My scar is completely healed except for that little scab at the very top. I have lost almost exactly 50 pounds (50.5 to be exact) and my BMI has dropped by 6.4. I still think I made a good choice and was surprised at the drop. I am going to keep on exercising. Doc says over next three weeks move to solids (regular) food, but stay away from fatty and snacky and fast food, and only 4-6 oz. per "meal" forever. Good luck to the rest of you guys. Happiness... Topic: ULCERS - SECOND REQUEST
HI EVERYONE, I AM ASSUMING SINCE NO ONE HAS RESPONDED TO MY ULCER QUESTION OF 1/16/2006 THAT NO ONCE HAS HAD ANY EXPERIENCE WITH THEM. IF SOMEONE COULD ADVISE ME OF A SITE WHERE I MIGHT GET SOME ADDITIONAL INFORMATION, IT WOULD BE MOST APPRECIATED. FOR THAT MATTER, ANY WOULD BE OF HELP TO ME. THANK YOU!!! GRANNY EILEEN
