Topic: RE: Complications from VBG?
Hi thank you for your input. Yes a hernia is one of the risks and I just got back from seeing my dr. And I have to have mine fixed. So I am in the process of trying to find a surgeon to get this fixed. I live in the Austin area, and my weight loss Dr. that i just saw is in Dallas area now. So that is where I am at. We will see. My biggest priority is to have this fixed. Dr. Hall said that it will have to be fixed with mesh to keep that from ripping apart again. That is one of the risks you take I guess to any surgery. But I feel ok about it. Will always be careful what I lift that is for sure. Thanks for the post. tara

If you got your surgery to work with you again, you're very fortunate. I had a VBG three years ago. I lost 90 lbs in six months, and then I found out that the staple line ruptured. My surgeon said it was because of me vomiting. I gained back about 90% of the weight I had lost. I recently underwent a revision to the RNY. I'm losing again, and I couldn't be happier. I try really hard to baby my pouch now; I don't want to take any chances. I hope you continue to be successful. Good luck!

hi there, i had the VBG surgery 7 years ago. it worked well for a time, then began reversing, i thought it was something id done so stupidly broke contact with my surgeon. now, 7 years after the fact i did a 2 day fast to detox my system, and it seems the band went back into place. so far ive lost 19lbs in three weeks. is this normal? i just cant understand why it went back on, or what made it come off all those years ago. i guess im looking to see if anyone else has a similar experience. thanks susie

Topic: RE: How long where you out when you had the VBG?
I had the VBG done in March 2004. I had the surgery on a Wednesday, was in the hospital for 5 days. Went home on a Monday. Was out from work for 10 more days and went back. But I sat a lot at work. I am a teacher, so I didnt have to be on my feet a lot. I think it depends on what type of job you have also. Good luck!!!

Topic: Complications from VBG?
I have another question! Has anyone had any problems or complications with the VBG surgery? I have one. I have a hernia. Part of my abdomen muscles have come apart and I have an appt. with my weight loss surgeon to see it. I most likely will have surgery to correct this. Part of my tummy pooches out. I will keep you updated. Other than that, all is good. It has been two years since my surgery. Tara

Topic: VBG w/ sleeve?
Can anyone tell me what that is? I have no idea! I have had the VBG done in March 2004. It was very successful for me. BUT you have to do your part. As you know, you can still consume high caloric intake. Ice cream, candy, chocolate, etc.... Thanks for the info! tara
