I had my open vbg on 3-11-08 and have plateaued at 25lbs it seems.  I've been able to eat chicken and lean hamburger ok.  I do drink Carnation Instant breakfast - Sugar Free for breakfast each day and somnetimes for lunch at work.  I do find I am hungry alot of the time (wasn't expecting that). The only time I have vomitted is when something gets stuck and I make myself .  Feels so much better!  Good luck getting off the plateau, I'm going to start at the gym this week and hope that helps.

Eric, This is the 1st I've heard of your surgery.  Why does the Dr. do a band on the VSG?  I really am interested since I am seeking a revision from a VBG to a VSG. Terri

I had my VBG in 1998. Lost about 80 lbs, never got to goal and then in 2004 started gaining. I had my first appointment today with the surgeon's office and I'm up almost 50 lbs. from my weight loss.  I also had 2 kids in the year in between. I have a packet of tests I have to schedule to take i.e. Upper GI, u/s of gall bladder, chest x-ray, sleep apnea. Dr said that if I have medical complications like a staple line disruption I should have no problems getting insurance approval... Hopefully I'm back on my journey for the final time.

Hi! I was just cruisng through the boards and I can't belive how deserted this one is... You should post that question on the VSG and Lap Band form (if you haven't already), since your procedure is like a combination of the two, kind of. You will get losts of advice and support there. Good Luck!
