Keep us posted. I am Praying for you!!
I had VBG performed in February 2006. At the time of the surgery, I weighed about 255 pounds. My lowest weight was 175 pounds, which was fine with me. In the past couple of months, my weight has shot up to 200 pounds. YIKES!!!! I had a CT of my abdomen today, it showed food in my entire stomach, not just the pouch portion like it should be. I saw the general surgeon that helped me with the complications I had following my VBG (that's a whole other story), and he thinks the staple line may have become disrupted. I am having an upper GI test tomorrow to find out for sure. He said my options were to have the surgery revised to a RNY or the LAPBAND. I definately don't want RNY. Has anyone else had this experience? Do you have to go through the whole deal with your insurance company again to get the revision? I am so disappointed right now.

I had the surgery in 1992. I just started looking at options on how to stop gaining and get healthier. I think this is a great post as there was no after care for stomach stapling patients. I really like Dr. Deitel. He was like a rock to me when I had the surgery. I was notified about his issue.
I am just thinking that eating healthier may be the trick to keeping a healthy body weight. I also think that forums like this really help. This is true life and not just an advertisement to get you to join.
Thank you for taking the time to write me back.
Congrats on your April 17th surgery date.
The majority of people experienced regain due to staple line disruption when the staples separated, usually 2 years out plus. If you ever desire a copy of your medical file on your VBG (great for a new surgeon for revision to review) contact St. Joseph's hospital in Toronto. Ask for the records dept. and they will tell you to send a written request along with a cheque and they will send a copy of the file to your family doctor.
Hi I have done a lot of research on this and the doctor i'm going to is very experienced in revision. As of today surgery has been scheduled for april 17. Like I said I have a hiatial hernia from all the wrenching. He is going to have to fix that.My question to you is do you find you need frequent fills . I would think you wouldn't need a lot of fills.I would like to keep intouch with you through this for support if possible. Here's my e-mail you can contact me via mail and we can go from there.
