HI EVERYONE, I AM ASSUMING SINCE NO ONE HAS RESPONDED TO MY ULCER QUESTION OF 1/16/2006 THAT NO ONCE HAS HAD ANY EXPERIENCE WITH THEM. IF SOMEONE COULD ADVISE ME OF A SITE WHERE I MIGHT GET SOME ADDITIONAL INFORMATION, IT WOULD BE MOST APPRECIATED. FOR THAT MATTER, ANY WOULD BE OF HELP TO ME. THANK YOU!!! GRANNY EILEEN

Granny, I am sorry but as of yet have had no issues as such. (knocking on wood) did you call your surgeon?

Hi Kimberly, Thank you so much for responding to my request. At least I know someone out there was reading it. Yes, I am working with my surgeon and will be going to see him or his nurse practioner this week.......again. Again, "thank you"!!! Eileen

I'm curious what you learned about ulcers? I have VBG in 1991 and developed a bleeding ulcer when a local dr gave me medicine that was too harsh for my pouch. Janet

Ulcers...yes. Carafate is now my buddy. For years I just grabbed anything OTC I could get my hands on but working with the new surgeon for (hopefully!) RNY conversion he has me on Carafate and it helps. However, my stomach and pouch show irritation during EGD but no active ulcers and I have passed two H-Pylori tests. Yet they still tell me I had ulcers. Now I know I also have a growth (benign) in my stomach. When I went to the new surgeon's support group the members told me that post-op stomach pain is common. I wasn't warned of that at the time I had my VBG. (not that it would have deterred me) Hope your Carafate will continue to help you more as you go along, Molly

Hi there granny,
i always thought i had ulcers as well and ended up being diagnosed and treated more than 8 times over the past 10 years with h-pylori.what a nightmare. I hope you are well now.VBG has been a living nightmare for me since I had it back in 1987.
