Does anyone have one, and if so, what does it say? I've only seen posts about this in the RNY forum, and I imagine the VBG one is different. ~Lauren

Hi Lauren...was just stopping by and saw your question. I think it's more of a personal choice. When I had my surgery I wasn't going to get one but everyone gave me their reasons and I thought it would be a good idea just "in case". Most people who have the RNY do the bracelet for fear that in an emergency medical personnel using an scope down their throat will harm their pouch (not sure how long that scope is) but to be on the safe side they/us want to make sure that medical personnel are aware of this..as they should look out for a medical bracelet or necklace. Mine says RNY Gastric Bypass, Diabetic. Others have put the same but also say No NG tube...something like that. If you feel you want too, go ahead. And put any medical information you feel is necessary to inform a paramedic or doctor in case you can't speak.

I have actual "Metal" staples and can not have an MRI so I have that on my Medic Alert bracelet....along with Coumadin for blood clots in both legs...but that is another story for another day! Be sure you can safely have an MRI-I think some can. some can't.  Peace Mary Anne
