I am in the process of scheduling my initial consult with my surgeon for VBS. I was planning on having the lap band, but because I will be travelling 750 miles to have my surgery, my surgeon wants to do the VBS. I am scared and excited at the same time, and I guess you veterans of VBS can relate. The thing that scares me is that I will somehow screw this up and as a self pay with my family putting everything on the line for my success, I am feeling alot of stress. I was wondering if any of you could give me an idea of what you ate the first 2 weeks post-op? I will be staying with my mom, and so I will have help with meal prep-I can completely stay out of the kitchen, but I was just curious. Thanks for any info and support. Dana

Hi Dana, The best advice I can offer is to stay positive! I find that positive thinking keeps me on the right track. The minute I get into that negative place is the minute I get stuck and back into that pre-WLS mindset and I start to self sabotage. You can do this! it isn't easy, but nothing worth having is easy. You have to decide that you want this and if you do everything will fall into place. Just focus on all the wonderful things that your future holds post WLS. I am almost 8 months out and I am so happy with my surgery. I am down 98 pounds and I still have weight to lose, but its been great! I have totally changed my life and my realtionship with food and really its all thanks to my VBG. During the first few weeks after surgery i didn't really eat much of anything. I just drank Carnation Instant breakfast No sugar added and water and that was about it. I didn't even feel like eating. The head hunger was there occasionally, but I didn't feel so great so I just got through it and you will too!!! Once I was allowed to move to the pureed stage I really wanted and egg and I could only eat a third of it. It really is amazing how helpfull this surgery is in the respect!! So best of luck to you and if you have any questions for me please feel free to email me Big Hugs, Sara 356/258/175
