hELLO, I am wondering if anyone at 5 months post op felt like giving up. I feel like a failure. I am back to eating things that I shouldn't. They don't make me sick so I try again. I am so stupid. Why would I go under the knife If my mind was not 100% ready to change. The weight that I lost don't even make it worth while. I was really wanting to lose big in a short time. So I'm disappointed in wls and myself. I need prayers and if anyone else have been where I am please let me know what you did.

Hi Latonia, Please don't give up!!! You are still well within the time that you can lose a lot of weight. Do your best to keep a positive attitude cause that will serve you very well and keep you on the right track. Sometimes I eat things I "shouldn't" but I don't beat myself up. I just vow to do better at the next meal or snack. Take it one meal or snack at a time. To make big plans to never do it again isn't gonna work for most people. It doesn't work for me anyway If you do slip up just take a walk or do an extra workout that week to make up for it. Exercise is the key to long term success. This is a process and no one changes overnight...if it were that easy we wouldn't be overweight. So don't beat yourself up! Stay positive! You can do this!!!!!!!!! If you ever need encouragement or support please feel free to email me any time Big hugs, Sara 356/266/175

Latonia, I feel the exact same way as you do!! I am also 5 months out and feel like a total failure. I eat all of the wrong things and they don't make me sick either. How much weight have you lost? I have lost about 60 lbs and I know that it could have been alot more if it wasn't for my grazing all of the time. Chips, candy, ice cream, and anything else fattening just goes down much easier for me. I have tried to stay away from all of those things and it isn't easy!!! I am sooo scared of gaining all of the weight back!!! I will pray for you and I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone!!!! Please email me and maybe we can figure something out together!!!! [email protected] I will be praying for you!!! Good luck and just think that it is NOT to late to change your eating habits!!! Hugs, Mary

Therapy might be useful to help you work through the self-sabotage. And also to help you better manage your expectations. "lose big in a short time"...well, that's probably not realistic and since that's not happening, you're giving yourself permission to go crazy with food again and sabotage what you've already accomplished. It's not a race. Faster isn't better. It's just faster and in fact has more long term repercussions (more lean tissue lost, for example). Nancy 394/276/180
