Hello everyone, I had my surgery on Wed. and I would have to say that I'm doing pretty good. Although there are a couple of things that I have some questions about. First off, last night I stated having diarrhea. I suppose that is nothing unsual because all I had been taking in was liquid. My Dr. did say that I could start on pureed food today and I was going to hold off on that for another day or so because it made me a bit nervous. But with the diarrhea I thought it might be a good idea to get in something other than liquids. So this morning I had A scrambled egg---no problems. But what I'm wondering is did anyone else have a problem with loose stools, and how long did it last? Also I'm having some PAIN everytime I swallow, even WATER. It only lasts for a few seconds but I wonder if I'm taking in too much at a time but it happens with only sips of water. I'm sure that it will get better in time it would just help to hear that it happened to others. Thanks for listening Tammy

Hi Tammy! I am 2wks post op and I had the diarrhea for about a week after my surgery. I was told it was a combination of the liquid diet and the anesthesia. Thankfully it went away. I had a kind of tight feeling in my chest when I would drink water or anything else for that matter and found if I took small sips I wouldn't get this feeling. Sometimes I forget and think I am my old self and take larger sips and bites and this pain comes up to remind me. Hope you feel better soon and good luck!

Caryl Thank you for the suggestion. I'll just have to remember to sip, sip, sip. Tammy

Good Morning Tammy; Definitely remember to sip, sip, sip and chew, chew, chew. You are lucky, I tried scrambled eggs the saturday after my surgery, it was on my list of stuff I could have, at least that is what the nutrionist at the hospital said. WELLL NOT! I ate about 3 bites and thought I was going to die. I called my doctor and told me that I shouldn't have any type of solids for at least another 2 weeks. It takes awhile for the insides to heal after surgery, even your throat from having that tube thing stuck down it. Take it slow and you will be fine. Good luck and congratulations on the start to a new life. -176

Hi, I had my surgery on last Tuesday and all of my stools have been loose. But I haven't had many. I have had that Pain as well and I find it's either because of too big of a bite or not chewing enough. I hope you feel better soon. H-
