How much can you eat?

I was curious to know how much food you can eat at one meal or snack? Sometimes I think I am eating too much, but I have only gotten sick twice and I don't continue to eat once I feel satisfied or full. I chew my food to almost nothing before swallowing and I do get full, but I can eat almost a whole Lean Cuisine meal and that seems like its too much. I am not really worried about calories because i only get between 800-1200 a day which is what my surgeon's nutritionist recommends and I go for protein first. I am following the rules that were given to me and things are going well so I am not terribly concerned about this. It is just my curiosity especially since so many people seem to have trouble with vomitting and eating enough. Hugs, Sara

I eat until I feel full also. It depends on what I eat how much I can get down. I am a firm believer at this point that what really matters most is drinking a decent amount of water and exercise (I walk). I have lost 48 pounds so far, and unfortunately did not take measurements before my surgery, but I think I lose inches when I'm not losing pounds. I had a sweet and sour chicken lean cuisine and I gave two pieces of chicken away, ate most of the rest of it, and actually pushed it a little too far and didn't feel great. I can't really eat much bread period, but I can eat some rice. I have also been able to eat a little bit of pasta. If you're losing and you feel like you're following the nutritionist orders then I wouldn't worry about it. I was never told how many calories to have so I'm curious what everyone else has been told. I don't have problems with vomiting (except a few times when I ate too fast or tried to eat bread) and so far all foods have sat well except for steak. I don't think I chewed it well enough and felt miserable and several times.

Let me start by saying I do not eat meals for a stretched out period of time. I eat my meals in about 5 minutes. If I go out to eat with someone then I stretch this out. My father recently bought Banquet chicken nugget tv dinners for my son. Each dinner has six chicken nuggets, about 10 french fries and two tablespoons of corn. Well... now my kid has decided he doesn't like them anymore. So I recently ate one -- I was able to split one into three meals. Probably not the best food choice I could make... but then beggars can't be choosy. Sharon -117#
