I seem to be vomitting a lot - at least 1 time per day. I don't vomit after I eat all the time - I feel fine and then about 2 hours later I get really sick and have to throw up - any advice?? I doesn't seem to matter what I eat the only thing that I don't throw up is soup and I am 8 weeks post op today. I have lost 43 lbs and Dave has lost 95 and he is 12 weeks post op ! Also, my incision still leaks does anyone have any experience with this or ideas about how long the Dr says it may be 3 months it may be 6 months - the leaking is very ahrd when I am teaching - I can't leave the room to change pads on my stomach. Thanks for any advice. Taryn

Hi Taryn, I'm sorry, but I haven't experienced any of what you mentioned. I would have preferred to offer some pearls of wisdom, but alas I have none. I just didn't want you to think that no one was out here, and I see that you haven't had any replies. Sounds like questions that you may want to run past your surgeon though - just to make sure that you is aprized of your condition. There may be something that he can do to help, and if not, at least you know that he is aware and that there is no need to worry. Sorry I wasn't able to help. Julie

Hi Taryn! I don't have the problem you have with vomiting, but I did experience the same thing with my incision. I developed a wound infection while I was still in the hospital and that darn thing drained for 7 weeks. I too, had to tape pads to myself and the tape just ate my skin until I would bleed. I tried everything! The surgeon kept putting in packing and kept it open so it would keep draining. After putting in the second wick, it finally stopped draining and healed quite nice. Just hang in there; it will quit. Just make sure the doctor is aware of what's going on and make sure to report if any redness or fever start up. Good luck! Lenore

Hi Taryn, I have suffered greatly from vomiting. Seemed in the beginning that was all I did. If I eat to much I vomit. The only other time I seem to vomit is after eating something fairly dense/heavy (i.e. slow to pass through the pouch) I think that "spit" backs up in the pouch making it even more full -- and since it is not passing through fast enough it comes back up. I also experience the vomiting when I eat rice/pasta. I think that it swells in my pouch making it overly full. I am cautious to eat much less than I think when I eat rice/pasta. That's my only insight. Glad to hear that you 2 are doing well otherwise! Best Regards Sharon

Hi Taryn, I did throw up alot right after surgery. Some days I would`nt and some days I would. Never really understood that. Now at 3 yrs post op, It has probably been about a year since I have vomited. I had to be careful with anything that swelled such as bread. I tried to eat some of my daughters chocolate cake at a restaurant and almost did`nt make it home. Of course there was nothing in the car to upchuck in. I started keeping a plastic cup in the car just in case after that. I sure don`t miss those days. As far as the leaking, I think I would consult the surgeon. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Hi there Taryn, I am sorry to say that I vomit daily. I am 1.5 years post op and looking to have a revision. It doesn't seem to matter what I eat or the time after I eat it. I still cannot handle meat, pasta, rice, potatoes and bad stuff like that. About the leaking, I would see your doctor because that much leaking isn't good. One thing you can try is using maxi pads. Maybe put on a sports bra and then let part hang down and wear a t-shirt under your clothes. Keep us posted.
