I was reading some posts and people were talking about enemas and cleaning out their stomachs for surgury and now i'm wondering why my doctor didn't mention anything like that. Should I call him or do I not need to take anything before surgury? Please let me know. Thank you in advance. Lisa

Don't fret....your surgeon will give you pre-op instructions...each surgeon seems to use a different procedure for pre-op. Right now your best bet is to listen to him/her. Hang tuff...you will be amazed with the results....albiet not to expect overnight success! See you on the other side.....Bonnie

Hey Bonnie, The reason I am concerned is that I had all my pre-op testing and my date is weds. the 8th and I will not be going back to the hosp/dr until weds. morning. I'd hate to get there and find out someone forgot to tell me to fast or take an enema or anything...I just want to be on the loosing side of the surgury and get healthy. Dr. is not in his office until tuesday so i'm not sure if i should call or not... ughh ok i'm starting to worry about everything now! I guess I should just get my head together and chill out, dr would have told me that right?

Allyson, The only instruction I have are eat my dinner before 8pm and then nothing by mouth after midnight. I just don't want them to post pone the surgury because I didn't fast or something. (just going crazy here!) Lisa

Lisa, Didn't have to do all of that just the fasting like Allyson. I am sure your doctor would advise on anything you had to do before surgery.

Dianne, I wonder if I should just make sure I fast for the day before just in case... Or I'll call and ask the hospital. They must know what the doctors usually want their patients to do before surgury.

I got to have a "last supper" the night before surgery. I could`nt have anything after midnight. I went to IHOP and stuffed myself with pancakes. That was 3 years ago and I have`nt even missed them. Good Luck with your surgery and may God bless you with a speedy recovery.

I just read the instructions again and it said eat dinner before 8pm then i can have a light snack after that if i want but nothing to eat or drink after midnight...I guess it will be out of my stomach by morning. I hope anyway! Lisa
