Good Morning Friends, Today I commit to eating for fuel (no crap eating) and drink my liquids! I will walk at least 6 blocks and will push for 1 mile. I will let you know how I did tomorrow. Best Regards, Sharon -112#

Good Morning Sharon, Good luck on your daily commitment. I do not aspire to such a lofty goal. My goal for today is....you guessed it NO SUGAR!!! Now that I've eaten the entire pack of 24 ice cream cones (in two days, with help from kids), it will be easier to avoid the sugar. I am thinking about going back on Atkins, I seem to do better with the no sugar rule when I eat whatever I want otherwise. Right now I'm not losing but fighting desparately to maintain my current weight. I have been walking a mile every day during lunch, and I also walked a mile on the treadmill on Tuesday. I'm going to the gym tonight and hope to make it at least an hour. It will be easy to get my fluids today, I made a big jug of kool aid with splenda, and I have a quart sized propel, yum! You can do it!! Tammy

Hi Tammy... Wishing you luck and cheering you on I was reading the Main Messageboard today and someone on there said that it takes 3 days without sugar to detox yourself. I don't know if this is true/accurate; just what I read. I am proud to say that my son wanted to go to Wendy's (the burger joint) on Tuesday night. I took him and alls that I had was a chocolate milk. Woo Hoo -- I felt powerful! Go Tammy! Go Tammy! Go Tammy! Sharon -112

Sharon, I was REALLY craving sweets when I got your email. Thanks for the extra push, I needed that! You saved me (for another 20 minutes, hopefully I'll get too busy to think about it by then!). Chocolate milk would do me in!! For me, dairy (especially chocolate!) makes me crave sugar like crazy! Hence the entire box of ice cream cones gone in two days. I think, if I had gotten counseling about sugery first, I'd have known that VBG is not necessarily the best choice for compulsive sugar addicts like me. So even though I am limited in the quantity I can consume in one sitting, there is nothing stopping me from eating all the sweets I want. I know I can give up sweets, because I've done it before, and maintained that for 2 years. Now I can't make it through one day! A few months after surgery, I had NO desire to EVER eat sweets again. It was like there was no willpower involved at all. Then someone made me a birthday cake and it just would have been too rude to say no, so off the wagon I went. Thanks for the info about the 3 days sugar detox...even if it's not completely accurate, it's a very timely goal for me that I can set and believe I can acheive. Three days without sugar. Thanks!!! Hey Sharon I've been drinking all of my water and walking 1 mile, heck I walked 2 miles yesterday. But I have fallen victim to the Junk Food Monster !!! It seems like since the day I got my surgery date, I've been trying to eat everything that I know I won't be able to have again. Is that normal ?? Did any of you go through that?

Hi to you! Yes, I experienced the "last 900 dinners syndrome". It took 1.75 years to finally get my surgery. During that time I ate like there was no stopping me and gained 60 pounds in that 1.75 years. Do I regret that?? You betcha I do!! Worst thing I ever did to myself. In retrospect for me to say "don't do it" would be pretty hypocritical considering I "did it" for 60 pounds. I know the reason I did it was I thought I was having RNY and was "saying my last goodbye" to food I would no longer be able to eat. I remember after having surgery and healing a little that I thought "hhhmmm I guess I really didn't need to EAT EVERYTHING as I can still have all of this food". I was lucky that my surgeon didn't cancel me for gaining weight prior to surgery. I have heard tell of other people having to go on diets and go to counseling for gaining weight. On the other hand, I know that you are exercising and drinking your liquids. So all and all I think that you know what is BEST for YOU. If you are not gaining weight at a rapid pace then you are probably fine. The only thing that will really change after surgery will be the quantity at any one sitting you will be able to eat. What will not change is that you will control what you eat and how many times you eat. Because there is no malabsorbtion you control whether the surgery works or fails. VBG truly is a TOOL. For me it has become more than a weight loss tool it is a tool of self-discovery. Being successful at weight loss has changed my view of myself and the world. Life has become a truly glorious affair. I am thankful for each day and every moment. Good Luck! Sharon
