VGB Repair

I'm looking for a doctor in the Dallas Area who will repair a staple line disruption. I would like to be converted to an RNY...but my insurance may not allow it because I cannot prove exercise compliance post banding. I am willing to have my VGB repaired if I can't have the RNY. While it was intact, it worked great. Any suggestions? J

What exactly is a staple line disruption? Why won't your original surgeon do the repair?

A staple line disruption is where there are staples loose in the pouch area. How this happens I don't know, but have found it is common. When there is a disruption food leaves the pouch through the opening and you don't get the full feeling, which in turn makes you gain weight. My surgeon says he doesn't do repairs and wouldn't refer me to another surgeon that would. There are surgeons that will convert the vbg to rny, but it is a more evasive surgery than vbg or rny.

So is the food going outside of your stomach? That sounds dangerous. Why won't the drs to the repair? Is it because it's more money in converting to rny?
